Imagine going to a doctor in severe pain asking for pain killers to be asked “have you considered assisted dying as we can’t do anything else for you”. I am in no doubt this will happen under this bill

#TransRightsAreHumanRights “Let trans people use disabled toilets” they say. What nobody is saying is that disabled people who don’t “look disabled” get abused. So are we doubling down on the abuse of both disabled people and trans people just to please the bigots?

The Minister who introduced the Gender Recognition Bill in the House of Lords in 2003 made it clear that "a transsexual person would have protection under the Sex Discrimination Act [the predecessor to the Equality Act] as a person of the acquired sex or gender." /1

Benefit cuts with a red rosette are in many ways no different than those stained in blue. Joints still throb when the heating has to be switched off in winter. Stomachs still pang with hunger when there is only a biscuit for tea. And yet cuts signed off by a Labour Chancellor are in a sense particularly brutal. They come with a tinge, not just of fear, but despair and betrayal. The feeling that if this is life under the “good guys”, there really is no hope that anything will get better. Politicians, it turns out, really are all the same. That is the sort of loss that can’t be measured by a Treasury spreadsheet. It is also one that - once lost - is deeply hard to get back.

Balancing the books on the backs of disabled people is not just unfair; it’s cruel. A million disabled people stand to lose vital support, while the wealthiest are protected. This isn’t necessity, it’s a choice—and it’s the wrong one. #SpringStatement

Louder for those more than a decade behind the times: PIP IS AN **IN-WORK** BENEFIT for people with sgnificant disabilities, as well as an out-of-work one.

It's the replacement for Disability Living Allowance and is neither means-tested nor unemployment-linked.

Why lie about what motivates these cuts? They are Labour's choice as to who should bear the costs of its fiscal rule. Why add insult to injury to claimants, why gaslight the rest of us, and pretend they are to help those with disabilities?

Absolutely shocking to see a Labour secretary of state stand at the despatch box and proudly announce slashing support for some of those who need it most - including removing the UC health top-up for young people, as if young disabled people don't exist?! #DisabilityBenefits

Can’t believe I’m agreeing with Caroline Johnson. At least she’s looked at what the new eligibility criteria means. How can a Tory care more about disabled people than Labour

For context on the PIP 'no award under 4 points' changes:

Needs assistance to be able to get in or out of a bath or shower (3 points). Needs assistance to be able to wash their hair or body below the waist (2 points). Needs supervision or prompting to be able to wash or bathe (2 points).

With the proposed cuts to PIP eligibility, what nobody is talking about is carers allowance. When people lose their PIP their carers will lose the pittance they receive which saves the tax payers millions of pounds. #UnpaidCarers

It’s vital that the opposition calls Reeves out in parliament over the 3.1 million with long covid. The massive increase in absences in schools which they have blamed on parents are down to Covid. The ghost children never existed they are long covid kids.
