Some new member from Kingston, I think, now talking. One to watch out for.
11.10.2025 14:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great to have such a strong team from @southwarklibdems.bsky.social at London Lib Dem Conference today, and proud to be hosting it here in Southwark.
We're here to raise awareness of Labour's unfair funding cuts to local government in London, and the urgent need for more investment in policing.
@maxwilkinson.bsky.social and @victoria-collins.bsky.social are doing a brilliant job at leading the fight against digital ID cards. Forcing 13 year olds to have digital ID is just weird and shows exactly why concerns about mission creep are valid.
10.10.2025 18:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Abandoning the ECHR. Abandoning the Climate Change Act. The Tories are simply Diet Reform at this point.
04.10.2025 17:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Labour cannot have it both ways. Starmer talks about compassion in the asylum system, and within days splits up the families of those granted asylum. This on top of forcing doctors and nurses coming here from abroad to do community work to prove that they contribute to this country. Just shameful.
02.10.2025 09:42 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Ha ha we can discuss this at the special conference they'll have to call!
30.09.2025 15:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I could just about cope with confidence and supply provided that we get PR.
30.09.2025 15:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No thank you.
30.09.2025 14:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I hope @torstenbell.bsky.social will immediately apologise for this. Yes, politics is about taking on your opponents, but comments about people's appearance and size should be out of bounds. Really disappointing to hear this from a Labour minister. π₯
28.09.2025 21:47 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Brilliant day with the @southwarklibdems.bsky.social talking to people across London Bridge, Bermondsey and Chaucer. Thanks for everyone who took the time to speak to us!
No love for Labour here, and great to speak to so many former Labour voters now coming over to the Lib Dems! πΆπΆ
In government, the Lib Dems scrapped Labour's last authoritarian ID card scheme, and it's fallen on us to lead the fight against this reheated version.
It's illiberal, dangerous, and a waste of money when our public services are on their knees. Join our campaign!

Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.
His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.
But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.
We will miss him terribly.
I hope this provides some reassurance! The views of the members were heard loudly and clearly over the last few days and I think that's made the difference.
25.09.2025 17:19 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Quite right. Thank you @victoria-collins.bsky.social!
25.09.2025 17:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am a Liberal and I am against this sort of thing.

Great thread from @rachelcoldicutt.bsky.social. Ignore the (many!) human rights concerns for a moment, but if the government's issue is with employers skipping right to work checks, then establishing a mandatory ID system for the entire country is a ridiculous and dangerous policy solution.
25.09.2025 15:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And I suspect @amcarmichaelmp.bsky.social might agree with me!

With ID cards likely to be proposed tomorrow, good to see this piece on @libdemvoice.org. I (sort of) understand why @lisasmartmp.bsky.social and others are reviewing our position, but the proposals will be for mandatory ID, not voluntary, and that should be enough for us to vote against them.
25.09.2025 15:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Graphic showing polling changes: Lib Dems +3, Labour +1, Conservatives -2, Reform -1. Headline reads 'Lib Dems winning: Lib Dems overtake Conservatives in bombshell poll'.
We are overtaking the Conservatives and on the cusp of overtaking Labour too.
More and more people are backing the Liberal Democrats to stand up to Reform and stop Trumpβs America becoming Farageβs Britain.
The constant in fighting and leadership speculation was one of the most frustrating parts of the last Conservative government. Labour promised change, but only one year in, they're doing the exact same thing as the Tories. The hallmark of a party that just does not know what it stands for.
25.09.2025 13:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm still recovering from Friday's disco... I blame the DJs!
24.09.2025 21:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was so proud of the party when Chris received her award. Not only is she a brilliant councillor but it showed our party's commitment to inclusion in practice. π§‘
24.09.2025 15:20 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Farage needs to be scrutinised and held accountable not only for his own party's ridiculous and abhorrent policies, but those of his allies. He supported Trump and welcomed anti-vax conspiracy theorists to his party's conference. This is disinformation, pure and simple, and needs calling out.

Fantastic end to #LDConf with @eddavey.libdems.org.uk's speech.
In the absence of either the Tories or Labour standing up to Farage and Reform, it falls to the Lib Dems to stand up for our British values here and abroad. Decency, kindness, tolerance, respect for human rights and the rule of law. πΆ
Great thread from @markjohnson.bsky.social here. ππ»
There are huge risks to civil liberties with mandatory digital ID systems, and it would be irresponsible to build one when the threat of a Reform government is so real.
The @libdems.org.uk need to be firmly opposed if this is what Labour propose.
One of the biggest topics of discussion at #LDConf has been the threat from Reform and how we fight back.
The depressing spectacle of the Conservatives' capitulation to the populist right, and Labour's equivocation, means it falls to the Lib Dems to lead the charge against Farage. And we will! πͺπ»πΆ
The issue with Farage's plan for mass deportation is not that is is unworkable or unfunded, but that it's morally repulsive.
An absolutely pathetic (but wholly unsurprising) response from Starmer. π₯
