I worked with Janet at the DfE - she was my fellow policy adviser (supporting Lib Dem ministers). She was brilliant and cares more about local government than anyone I've ever met so if you happen to live in her ward do vote for her.

I’ve written, alongside colleagues, to the Minister for Women & Equalities about the appointment of the new EHRC Chair.

We share the concerns that both the JCHR and WEC had during the pre-appointment hearing.

The EHRC urgently needs to rebuild trust with all communities.

Brilliant news! Josh Babarinde is an absolute star, and we are incredibly lucky to have him in the party. He's hitting all the right notes in this video - standing up to populism, championing diversity, and getting more young people engaged in the party. He'd make a fantastic Party President!

Fantastic to see that the Lib Dems have won more council by-elections than any other party since the local elections in May, winning seats from Labour, the Conservatives and Reform.

Southwark deserves better than this ridiculous, student union approach to politics. If Southwark Labour can't even run a leadership election, they shouldn't be running a local authority.

Even with the tweaks, Labour's welfare cuts will push 150,000 more people into poverty. Disability groups across the UK are calling for the government to cancel these cruel cuts, as are the Lib Dems. There's still time for Labour to pull the Bill and go back to the drawing board on welfare reform.

Even the PM's own backbenchers can see the damage these cuts will do - leaving some of the most vulnerable without support and putting unpaid carers in impossible situations.

The Government needs to pull this Bill and go back to the drawing board.

While Labour and the Conservatives continue to shed huge numbers of votes and councillors (and likely MPs at the next general election), the Lib Dems are continuing to make gains and will almost certainly be pushing the Tories into 4th place at the next general election. 1/2

It's good to see so many Labour MPs (including my own, @helenhayes.bsky.social) now calling out the government's cruel welfare cuts. Starmer must listen, change policy, and start supporting - not punishing - disabled people.

Really great to see the progress made this week on decriminalising abortion and allowing assisted dying. People should be free to make decisions about their lives, their bodies and - yes - their deaths, without state interference.

Last month, the Prime Minister used worrying language - referring to an "island of strangers".

Those who've chosen to make Southwark their home are not strangers to us.

We're writing this letter to him to urge him to reconsider this language, and have invited our Labour colleagues to join us.

Just incredible. On some of the core needs of London - tackling high levels of crime, making public transport more modern and accessible, and getting additional funding to local authorities - the Labour government seems completely uninterested.
