β€˜Opposing the inevitability of AI at universities is possible and necessary’ | Radboud University Since the widespread release of ChatGPT in December of 2022, AI has taken over much of the world by storm – including academia. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

Hey normal people. If you're wondering where Zohran Mamdani was quoting Debs from, it was from here, from his speech prior to sentencing for daring to say World War One was a dumb idea. Honestly one of the better speeches from American history, period.

I hope that in whatever circle of hell is reserved for folks that don't pick up dog poop, there's a hotter, more painful coil for those that let their dog shit in the middle of the sidewalk and leave it.

I thought I was doing pretty well lately but I am watching this House Of Dynamite streaming propaganda thing and it's got me on the verge of a panic attack so clearly I could use some time in the woods.

While avoiding getting out of bed at 530 this morning I read the term "grokwork orange" to describe what's going on and it was way to early for that to get stuck in my brain.

Chatbots β€” LLMs β€” do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re β€œright” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

I'm sure many of you have heard by now that earlier this week, IU k*lled the print edition of its student paper, the IDS. The issue that was supposed to print this week contained criticism of the Whitten regime and IUs further slide into scist control, and they couldn't allow that to happen during Homecoming, when all the rich alumni are in town.
Enter Purdue! The Purdue student paper, The Exponent, owns its own presses. Yesterday, in an act of tremendous solidarity with their biggest rival school, they printed the forbidden issue of the IDS. They then drove it to Bloomington overnight and stocked all of the IDS boxes on campus, just in time for Homecoming.
Solidarity is what makes us stronger, and solidarity will be what ultimately allows us to triumph, if we can ever truly get it together. I hope everyone has a fun, safe day if they're going out today, and I hope we can think about what acts of solidarity we can begin taking to really make this movement MOVE - beyond a permitted expression of upset into more active resistance.

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."

A WILD ONE: A man broke his leg during an arrest by ICE at a car wash south of L.A.

ICE has held him under 24/7 guard at a hospital, registering him under a pseudonym, for *37 days* without telling him why.

A judge has ordered his immediate release.

There’s a good chance Bari Weiss running CBS News will create a new, more confusing version of FOX that further erodes the news landscape but it’s also just as likely that she pockets the cash and dive bombs it into the ground like an Osprey.

Leaving the cool time zone and re-entering Corn Daylight Time, which I guess means I have to go back to normal life of email and CT scans. I have to stop crushing lightbulbs with my bare hands and I won't be called Γ©sΓ© by the strongest human beings anymore.

I am sad.

Trip report:

IA - CORN SWEAT
MO - Basically WI with more roadside gun shops.
KS - I was asked if I sell meat because I was wearing a cow patterned cycling cap.
OK - I saw roughly a mile of derailed train alongside the highway.
TX - Zillions of condemned cows
NM - Enchanting as always
