Judge Blocks Pillar of Trump’s Mass Deportation Campaign

In response to a suit by @maketheroadny.bsky.social a federal judge has blocked Trump’s expanded use of “expedited removal.”

The courthouse abductions w/o due process that we’ve been protesting are illegal—and must stop.

Google won’t be forced to sell its Chrome browser and can keep paying companies to keep its search engine as the default on smartphones, thanks to a federal ruling.

In other words? Google gets to remain a monopoly and keep its harmful, anti-competitive practices.

The asymmetry between the parties is reflected perfectly in these bad-faith dust-ups over TV news editing. CBS edited Harris down for time; here, by contrast, edited out a bunch of defamatory nonsense from Noem. Fox edits down Trump to make him sound sane. Etc.

THIS ORDER supersedes any previous order, proclamation, or directives to the extent they are in conflict. This Public Order shall take effect immediately and remain in effect until such time as it automatically expires one year from the date of issuance, or until such time as the New Mexico Department of Health Cabinet Secretary rescinds it.

New Mexico has issued a public health order that removes federal restrictions to COVID-19 vaccine access so that pharmacies in New Mexico can vaccinate people of all ages and risk profiles. Every state need to do this!

The DOJ is telling the court that all unaccompanied children Trump is sending to Guatemala have parents or guardians in that country who have requested their children be returned to them. The plaintiffs are saying that's not at all true. You can read the back and forth here:

This is the second judge in a week that has brought up the fact that the government can't be trusted with clear instructions - likely because the government ignored Judge Boasberg's order to turn the planes around last March saying "verbal orders from judges don't count."

NEW: Many of the unaccompanied minors who Trump is trying to traffic to Guatemala today are in foster care - some of which seem to be Christian facilities. These 10 represent a putative class of nearly 600 children nationwide. Our government is trafficking children.
