Agreeing with what everyone has highlighted, that last sentence just sticks out even more to me; either highlighting the ignorance many have in their understanding of why the Danish system is so controversial - and in the assumption that Denmark is some sort of utopia 😒

Everything about the current 'debate' around this is dismal, not just morally but because it is so stupid. For example:
It conflates asylum-seeking and illegal immigration (and sometimes with migration generally)

The Prime Minister said in September that we are at a fork in the road. These asylum proposals suggest we have taken the wrong turning.

Coming off the back of news that on 2% of tenant complaints led to formal enforcement of any kind across England between 2022-24
