Neutral laws can still serve the public good, which usually hurts conservatives: break up consolidated media control, kill the protections for regional car dealerships and other rent-seeking monopolies, make immigration agents personally liable for violating civil rights, etc.

Modern conservatives have had impunity for so long that they openly commit crimes without fear of consequences. Let's give them consequences, and the public will get on board.

You can pass neutral laws and regulations and aggressively apply them in order to achieve much of your desired outcome in a way that the public may still be on board with. Why is Elon Musk walking free when there is ample evidence he sought out parties with Epstein? Prosecute him without remorse.
