I've worked here for 3 years. I've had a disciplinary meeting put into my diary for Friday and I genuinely reckon it's as a result of calling our AI chatbot a "clanker". Our company has relatively recently launched an AI chatbot tool which has had mixed reviews from both employees and customers. As a result of this, I've mentioned in several slack channels and teams meetings things along the lines of "clanker AI chatbot doesn't do the job it needs to do" or "the clanker chatbot is submitting incorrect enquiry forms". My head of HR messaged me directly asking me what this means, to which I gave a brief overview around some of the instagram memes I've seen. They've now invited me to a meeting with my manager, head of HR and I've been offered a union rep. Can they actually terminate me for saying a 'slur' about robots? Could they really subject me to disciplinary action? Maybe I'm getting promoted and just overthinking this but I'd like to be prepared.
