This country really is in a great position to benefit from the abundance of cheap, renewable energy.
The more I learn the more hopeful I am.

The output will increase over time too.
Here's the source of the above plus a great little infographic highlighting the benefits of geothermal power plants.
energydigital.com/news/the-sto...
You may have seen the BBC headline about the UKs first geothermal power plant: turning hot rocks into electricity
However, did you know that the plant also acts as a source of lithium, used in many batteries. Initially enough for 1,400 EVs or 300,000,000 mobile phone batteries per year!
You certainly know what youβre doing.
For those of us committed to renewables, itβs so easy to see the benefit. I mean literally free warm water from your roof.
Itβs mad that βgoing greenβ is such a decisive topic.
Thatβs brilliant.

So youβve got solar thermal hot water? Did I read that right? As in the pipes run through some stuff on the roof and when itβs sunny - like today - you get hot water?
How effective is it?
Our heat battery people Tepeo have an strategic partnership with SunAmp. Not that you have a Tepeo but it's probably a pointer that it's a good technology.

We don't, but I know several people do. Everyone says positive things - works well, it's efficient and much smaller than a typical tank. We haven't needed to change our 'unvented' tank as our house isn't overly old, it works just fine and we have space for it. Anything you'd like to know?
25.02.2026 06:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Paul, this Matt Ferrell video might be interesting - if you're not familiar with his channel it's really good for sustainability and tech.

If you did, I'd love to document the experience and check in from time to time to see how it performs.
24.02.2026 18:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0its the same team, rebranded & built around their big shows commercially (as I understand it). They recently dusted off Scrapheap & called it Zapheap with electrification. I watched some of the filming which was fun.
I suspect you're right about sodium batteries but they will evolve in time Im sure

Oh wow, look at the juxtaposition of the two posts LinkedIn has placed side by side. Celebrating 50 years of Gibson Lamb - my old firm - and a post announcing the launch of Electrify My Home.
Funny old world sometimes.
They have to be worth considering, but they are in relative infancy. I have heard the voltage drops off quite quickly at lower SOC but haven't done much research into it. Have you seen this Everything Electric Tech video ( @bobbyllew.bsky.social 's channel) youtu.be/K1h5U8OADdI?...
