A deputized partisan militia, yes. Remember when one of the thugs in DC was called out by a passer-by, who said “You know you guys are ruining this country, right?” And the masked thug’s (very reasoned) answer was “You liberals already ruined it.” So partisan leaning is obvs a job requirement.

And elected congresspeople keep getting denied entry to inspect the detention facilities. Why don’t members of Congress bring federal marshals or even local police with them when they go to inspect these places?!? Seems like that’s needed under this regime.

During the shutdown of Trump 1.0, wasn’t it the effects on air travel that eventually led to the end of the shutdown? I seem to remember the flight attendants’ union being somewhat loud about the problems the shutdown were causing.

I find the idea that Trump would run as anyone’s VP patently absurd. Likewise, if the idea is that Vance would run as Pres & then resign to hand the presidency over to Trump, you are seriously discounting Vance’s naked ambition. Attorneys, man. I worked on the support staff at a law firm for several decades & it is true that there is never anyone more right about anything than an attorney (in their own mind anyway). And they will never hesitate to tell you so.
