If you live in/represent a Blue State, want to gerrymander the FUCK out of your state, support and are willing to fight for a national anti-gerrymandering law you are principled, consistent and doing exactly the right thing.

I understand we're having another round of angst about Bluesky, this one being NOT that it's dying, thank god, but that it's growing too slowly. I mean, growing too slowly for what, exactly? Does Bluesky actually need an ever-accelerating growth cycle? Can't it, like a tween, have growth spurts?

‘Worrying’ levels of screen time means young people losing confidence to socialise in person, minister warns – UK politics live Culture secretary Lisa Nandy says ‘majority of young people spend all, or almost all, of their free time alone in their bedrooms, online’

This is not caused primarily by "screen time".

It's been caused by the mass eradication of third places for young people in basically every city over the past three decades - and a society that's hostile to the concept of teens socialising in public spaces.

"we will take the people who make your phone unusable by calling 12 times a day and hang them in the town square" would win 70% of the vote

I was about seven when I realized (and became extremely depressed over) the fact that even if I lived to be 300 and the only thing I had to do in my life was read; I would still not even make a dent. I mean, I also took that as a challenge but yeah.

I don’t want a left Stephen Miller, I want strong civic institutions and healthy media environment to say “what the fuck” to any right or left psychopath.

once, I started writing a list of hobbies and interests that also had a reputation for rabid misogyny, that I may need to avoid, and I had to abort the mission because the list was over 500 items already and showed no signs of ever having an endpoint

there's a reason men are lonely, and it's them

i'm going to withhold saying anything about UB or secondary collectors markets for the time being, but i really don't like that a very complicated game piece with bespoke mechanics has a textless variant

tech literacy in journalism is extremely low regarding AI. an LLM chat bot doesn’t “lie” nor does it “admit”. it produces sentences based on probabilities. if you ask it again, it might generate the exact opposite response. it doesn’t have feelings or ability to reason. it’s a sentence generator.

I hated that no diagnosis of anxiety or depression or BPD2 ever fit. They left me overmedicated and suffering.

When I finally got screened and started to understand what overstimulation was, that I could to a point mitigate my exposure and thus my reactions, my life drastically improved.

An entire generation's introduction to Superman was a hero who let his father died when he could've save him, committed a 9/11 every three minutes fighting Zod before finally killing him, and did not belive humanity could be trusted.

And here we are in 2025 calling empathy toxic.

Vote Blue Mo Matter Who is always about harm reduction in the general election. As we learned in NYC this year if you show up for the damn primary you’re less likely to have to vote for dipshits in the general.

I would pay cash money to see a documentary about all the shitty bro-ish men who fucked up Star Trek behind the scenes. Rick Berman isn't despised enough.

I know it’s not the main issue but this Grok stuff (some responses now deliberately skewed) should make it unviable as a commercial proposition. The entire point of LLMs is that they faithfully reproduce on a probabilistic basis. Take that away and you’re dealing with a fancy Daily Mail.

I REALLY hate when people reply to things in a way that is not in line with reality but aligns with an idealistic version of things that isn't reality now.
"I'm collecting donations to stock period products in my class."
"Period products should be free!"
THAT ISN'T HELPFUL. IT'S ANNOYING. 1/2
