The right wing will continue to manufacture culture wars and throw "controversies" at the wall to see which sticks in the hope it will distract people from Epstein.
08.08.2025 05:22 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0"Phantom Lib Syndrome" is what @ronfilipkowski.bsky.social calls it. He's exactly right.
Reactionary beliefs lost in the "marketplace of ideas" decades ago. Science proved the Bible's creation, Babel, & flood stories were fables.
This is why the right loves to argue against imaginary liberals.
There were a few people offering nuanced takes about beauty standards and racialized aesthetics and a very small number of outraged people. But there was no mass rage at American Eagle or Sweeney.
But inventing liberal outrage is what Republican media do best.
As the New York Times just reported, the actual numbers show that almost no one was criticizing Sydney Sweeney for her American Eagle ad.
But Libs of TikTok decided to pretend that lefties were angry. A story about supposed leftist outrage was concocted out of thin air by liars.
In reality, most progressives werenβt worked up much at all. Criticism of the ad campaign had come almost entirely from a smattering of accounts with relatively few followers, according to an analysis of social media data by The New York Times. Conversation about the ad did not escalate online or in traditional media until days later, after right-leaning influencers, broadcasters and politicians began criticizing what they described as a wave of progressive outrage.
𧡠Right-wing extremists like Libs of Tiktok and Charlie Kirk totally concocted the Sydney Sweeney "outrage."
The supposed left-wing outrage at Sweeney essentially never happened. Republicans made it up.
And as a former GOP media consultant, I know the "one weird trick."
