While saying they want to "preserve nature" the Conservative Party have just pledged to scrap the Climate Change Act.
This makes no sense.
How do more floods, more droughts, and rising temperatures "preserve" nature?
That's what scrapping the Act will lead to.

Positive #Swift news from #Longridge #Lancashire. 10 out of 12 boxes now occupied in St Wilfrid's church tower plus 2 newly occupied boxes at a friend's house after a 'patient' π€£ 3 year wait. Lots of screamers over town. They are a joy. Summer would be dead to me without them. π

Dogs pollute water with pesticides even weeks after flea treatment
When dogs given spot treatments for fleas go swimming, they release levels of pesticides dangerous to aquatic life for at least a month after the treatment
Our latest research shows spot-on flea treatments on dogs are released into water when dogs swim even 28 days after treatment - in contrast to the label which suggests dogs can safely swim 48 h after treatment.

An orange graphic featuring a photo of a Long-billed Curlew. Above the photo, text reads: Long-billed Curlew. Numenius americanus. Below the photo, text reads: Status: Least Concern.
White text on an orange background. During the breeding season, the Long-billed Curlews head to the expansive grasslands of the northwestern United States and southwestern Canada. After breeding, the birds head south the United States west coast, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. Illegal shooting is still an issue in some states across America, however the main threats today include habitat loss due to development and climate change, and insect reduction as a result of increased pesticide use.

Text reads: The largest wader in the Americas, the Long-billed Curlew has been called a variety of folk names including Sickle Bird, Old Smoker and Candlestick Bird. We head across to the Americas for today's #WorldCurlewDay Curlew Countdown, with the Long-billed Curlew.

A farmer drives a small blue tractor through a field of tall, swaying grass, framed by thick, green hedgerows. The sky is bright and clear, a picture of productive land working in harmony with nature. This is what a nature-friendly future looks like...farming that supports wildlife, healthy soils, and thriving landscapes. But without stable support, this future is uncertain.
UK Government has halted SFI applications, cutting off support for nature-friendly farming in England. βπ
Farmers need certainty, not funding thatβs switched on & off.
Pulling the rug from under them erodes trust, disrupts farming, and stalls critical progress on nature & climate.
