Happy to share that our large-scale network analysis is now out in @nathumbehav.nature.com
We show that networks are often supported by too little evidence from the data for results to be reported with confidence, not meaning that results are flawed but rather suggests caution in interpretation.

You run into trouble if you equate measurement with prediction. suppose basketball skill = height + grace. If you use height as a measure of bball skill, you will conclude that grace does not improve bball skill (b/c grace is unrelated to height).

Hmm, maybe 'intention to commit murder by axe' is the cause I had in mind.

But purchasing an axe is not a cause of being an axe murderer. Being an axe murderer leads one to buy an axe and also leads to the presence of bodies, no?

Anyone know about research in #linguistics regarding dialectology and dogs?
If my friend's dog's name is Churro, and she has a VERY different accent from, will the dog understand when I'm calling his name? Will he know to equate my schwar with her [uΙΎ] realisation?
Do dogs do phonemes?

Screenshot of a tweet from Mike Luckovich informing people that this his cartoon was taken down by Twitter/X due to violation of guidelines. The cartoon shows Elon Musk with bags of money behind him. Standing in front of him are three emaciated figures holding empty bowls that read "World's poorest." Musk is saying to them: "No more free lunch!"
So much for free speech. Let's make this cartoon by @mluckovich.bsky.social go viral.
I'm married to @tealcartoons.bsky.social so I might be biased, but cartoons have long played a vital role in shaping political debate - both past and present. This type of censorship is deeply troubling.
