i say all of this because i've met so many people who get offended over someone being critical of america because they view it as someone being critical of them specifically

so many people are entirely indoctrinated into believing nationalism is patriotism, it's fucking wild

if someone says "i hate america" i don't think "wow, they hate americans" i think "wow, they hate american foreign policy, capitalism, white supremacy, etc"

i say this because a lot of propaganda leads many to believe that america is its people, when that just isn't true, no matter how much america as a country claims to perfectly represent the people's interests, in this form it never will

something i feel like is very important for people to realize about those critical of america is that we are not critical of the people in america, we are critical of the government of america
