I’m helping a PBS series look for a social media manager/content creator for an upcoming promotional campaign. The start date is ASAP, and a project timeline that currently goes to July.
This is for a series on American Muslim history, so candidates with cultural familiarity preferred!

Let's talk about the utterly bizarre science of cats' purring.
Here's a weird starting point:
There are NO cats (Felidae) that can BOTH roar AND purr.
Cats that roar = genus Panthera
Cats that purr = genus Felis

I know it’s late, but I thought you could use a picture of a cat sitting in a ridiculous way. There’s nothing under her middle!

It’s for a class where students’ main competencies are mostly not humanities/social sciences.
Suggestions?

Maybe once X finally dies, chats will resurface here.
I gotcha!
IMHO, my students don’t get discussions till they participate in a ton of them; one heavy life experience wouldn’t be enough for them, but if yours are ready, that’s awesome!
We discuss 3 short stories, 15ish poems, 12 Yrs a Slave 3x, and TEWWG 3x.
So. Many. Seminars.
One of my favorite reoccurring assignments in my dual credit Intro to Lit is Socratic Seminars.
Instead of one discussion leader, they all have to come ready to discuss each text, with Costa’s 3 Levels of questions & annotated texts.
Just an alternate suggestion if helpful
College educators:
Instead of writing another short story analysis, I’m considering asking students to deliver background info about an author and then lead class discussion over that text from the syllabus.

I’ve seen a social studies chat (I think it’s #sschat) and @marcusluther.bsky.social has done some slow chats for ELA, but bsky doesn’t really have robust teacher chats.
I think because the TL is chronicle, it makes chats less visible, maybe.
I miss ohedchat & thebookchat a lot.
