I said the same in the summer. I like Davis and he’s a local lad, but defensively he was poor last season. That may have just been as Ipswich were terrible at the back mind. If we did get him, he’d be a rotation option and wouldn’t start regularly though.

Completely agree. Plus, people are going on like he’s had stinkers playing there but he’s been fine.

He’s probably been our most consistent defender since the takeover. I can’t fault the shifts he puts in. I get the worries with him playing LB, but some of the takes were crazy.

Seen one account say said he should have been sold last summer. 🤦🏼‍♂️

As I originally said, I think you're both correct. We had cover, but that was also pulling cover from alternative areas of the pitch. You can't predict injuries but they do happen, especially when we're playing the number of games we currently are.

Hopefully Hall & Tino are back soon.

I don’t think it would’ve been instead of. Ramsdale’s loan fee was smaller than a permanent deal, and there’s talk we still have funds in January. Hindsights great, but given our situation now, we probably should’ve signed a left back. That's before we look at the age of Pope, Burn, Krafth & Tripps.

I think you're both correct. We had plenty of cover but the cover was from players that don't naturally play at LB. Now Tino & Hall are out, signing another LB, seems like something we should have done.

Looks like a hamstring injury. Apparently he needs to go for a scan.

Suspected it would be this. Eddie doesn’t normally rotate, especially after a win. Plus we have an international break afterwards too.

I still think he’s a great player, but he didn’t mean it in any way, shape, or form. He tried to take it down as he turned, and it bounced the other way.

Definitely a blow as he's been a stand out this season, but certainly not as bad as first feared.

We can look at this again after the AFCON. I'm sure Osula will have played little football as a starting ST in that time and I'll still be talking about a loan move for him.

Osula was always a project player, we took a punt on. If both need game time to develop, it will be Wolte all day.

We need to remember Osula's best minutes have come against Bromley, Birmingham, Ipswich & Bradford. I don't think starting him in league or CL games, is the answer.

He needs a season at a club he'll play regularly & score goals.
Not thrown in for us when Wissa/Wolte aren't available.

Yeah, Wolte does need regular game time to adapt to the league, like Ousla, but ones a ST we've just paid £70M for and we hope to be our main man, as he has a huge ceiling.

When I say he needs regular game time, I don't mean in place of the two league games Gordon started. Starting two league games will do next to nothing for his development or the team.

Playing devil’s advocate here, but do you keep a player someone bid £30M for as a 3rd choice ST in our position?

Wissa going to the AFCON is a big reason not to sell/loan him, but even if he gets minutes then, I’m not sure he’s ready. To get ready, he needs game time, which I can't see happening.

He also scored one in the Champions League against Galatasaray & one against Union Berlin in league. All inside the last 7 days.

In 6 games this season, he has 5 goals and 3 assists.

I agree with Jamie, his best minutes have come off the right side (Bromley & Birmingham), but those aren’t PL games.

As a ST, he’s not great with his back to goal, fouls too often and looks shattered after 60 minutes.

I really like him, but he needs a loan move where he’ll play and score.

I'm not a fan of Gordon at ST either.

Osula’s has had limited PL minutes, but I don't he's impressed in those. With Wissa back in less than 4 weeks, he drops further down the pecking order too.

I like him, but unless we have a load of injuries, I can’t see him playing regularly.

I can see the potential, he’s certainly got the physical traits to be a good ST but he needs regular football, which we can't offer.

Buzzing he had a good game, as he seems a top character, but I can’t see it carrying into the PL. We need to remember it was against a L1 side that didn't offer much.

Apart from the Barca game, he’s been distinctly average so far.

Too many crosses have been over hit or ballooned out of play in the opening games.

Still think he’ll come good though, a consistent run of games and playing alongside a striker that knows the league, would make a big difference.

I agree with everything you've said. Wotemade will play until Wissa's back. I imagine if Wissa had been fit, Woltemade would be played here and there until the AFON.

I do think we'll be in a much better place once YW's back, the same way I imagine results would have been different if he had played.

Wissa signing and getting injured is just bad luck.

The real issue was the summer window. If we’d got a ST in early and had him fit from the start, the results would look different.

Hindsight aside, we now need Wissa back, as Woltemade needs time to adapt.

I agree the season’s start has been poor goals wise, but Gordon played up front vs Villa/Liverpool and he just isn’t a ST.

Osula started vs Leeds. He just needs a loan and time to develop, as he’s just not ready.

Woltemade started and scored vs Wolves. On a different day we score 3, that game.

I’d get Woltemade on for Barnes at 60 minutes. We need an outlet, going forward and Gordon’s wasted down the middle.
