i can see a couple niche urban use cases but i just dont see people paying double for a burrito or grinder that arrives, at best, 5 minutes before the one on a motor bike.

just some guy, now with lazy self portrait. Image Analyst of sorts. I was in the room where it happened, just not when it happened. I'm worried I dont have social skills. ask me about space, place, or photography?

13.02.2026 18:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0its a remarkably resilent way to fly an object. the other day i sort of crashed a little one. i sent it back up without noticing one of the motor arms had bent and partially collapsed. other than sounding weird, the control system adapted, hovering perfectly despite having a rotor bent off its axis
13.02.2026 13:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0there are a number of varients, but just goancing at some photos im seeing control surfaces surely driven by servo motors with the requeset linkages, little gears, ect.
the quads are literally just rotors and motors, using pure differential thrust with no aerodynamic surfaces whatsoever
probably a bit of simplicity to go with it. other than the bomb dropper and the camera gimble, these things have about 6 moving parts, the rest is solid state

11.02.2026 18:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0given the tfr cancelled right after 9am, i going with night managers got into an argument because dod wouldnt talk to dot, so someone at dot shut down everything until the bosses rolled out of bed and noticed they had 800 new voicemails from the airlines

11.02.2026 13:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0is there a reason a bunch of grindset grifter types (but apparently noone else) all of a sudden have bluechecks on this website. like the only skeets im seeing with blue checks are giving off serious "has an exciting new timeshare opportunity" vibes
11.02.2026 12:24 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0there is no doubt an amount is preparation for deprivation. soften the hit to morale when coffee is no longer available to the common folk. make any objection to impoverishment or disease a sign of moral failure.

09.02.2026 00:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0a good spy movie: the minister prepares for big private 1 on 1 with the foreign president. it's the carpet meeting. he's one of theirs, and he's been out of the office for a long time. they miss him
07.02.2026 22:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0if there were, they wouldnt be at the superbowl. theyd be playing sold out shows constantly. heck, they might even peempt the superbowl.

04.02.2026 22:52 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0this era of history is fascinating as you get this mix of old and new, which i suppose is always true but more pronounced. there is a picture i cant find of a polished chrome naval gun, hydraulically operated, from about 1905. next to rack of cutlasses, in case they were boarded by pirates, i guess
04.02.2026 14:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0i know this is a joke, i just want an excuse to talk about petards.
so a petard is basically a bomb on a stick you lean against a door or wall while beseigeing a castle. there are all these wonderful old wood cuts of fashionably dressed men attacking castles with them
I've got my theories on what's really going on. But no, if I concentrate really hard and I'm about to fall asleep, sometimes(more often not) an object appears. I suspect it's more than 4% because most people never actually visualize anything so they don't understand the difference. Or maybe it's me?
04.02.2026 10:46 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0i suspect its a failure of communication. like i can imagine seeing an apple, but only with effort and concentration can i shut my eyes and actually see one. more often than not i cant make it appear

03.02.2026 12:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0arent they mostly just developing leftover SDI programs? F9/Starlink is just a less ambitous DCX/Brilliant Pebbles.
