Corporations are starting their PR campaigns about their employees “helping feed families facing hunger”.

They really think that community outreach using volunteers make the public forget that the bosses are the reason why families are facing hunger.

We’re kinda not, but this play just shows more catipulation from those whose responsibility is to the people. Instead the major media, for the last 50 years sees profits as their chief concern.

Of course none of this is “breaking news.”

The US had a record 771K homeless people in Jan 2024. The number is likely much higher now. A significant portion of those people are working full time and are forced to rely on programs like SNAP because their employers do not pay a living wage. The problem isn't the workers, it's capitalism.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

It's weird how liberals have appropriated the vague nationalistic language that used to come from Republicans, ex: freedom, democracy, "soul of the nation." It clearly coincides with Bush Republicans taking over the party, but also illustrates how deeply engrained fascism is in the image of the US.

Also “change your shitty culture” says the guy with damn near the most vanilla ass name.

The full realization of the tropes they started over 40 years ago.
