PS: I caution against chiefly seeing this in context of the US. That 100% is relevant context and ‘inspiration’ clearly comes from there, see Badenoch and UK ICE idea. However, on this the Tories have a long history all on their own and are moving further and further into extremist positions. /endPS

… of politicians who have been murdered over recent years and attacks on others. We cannot simply dismiss things like this, as I had already said in relation to Badenoch the other day, as the last horrendous hurrah of a dying party. The harm can still be very real even if it is. /end

This isn’t just a point about Jenrick either: the framing adopted by the Express—that this is a war—is also deeply irresponsible and will also serve to inflame further.

In a bold move, Robert Jenrick is set to unveil a controversial plan targeting what he calls 'activist' judges, at the Conservative Party conference.

I say this with the bluntness it requires: they will get people murdered if this continues. This is not just populism anymore either: it’s completely unhinged and a deliberate choice that does endanger lives. I am not saying this lightly at all.

“… a sort of mad McCarthyite scream of paranoia and anxiety of the sort which he has now branded himself… he is living entirely inside of his little mind…”

Ian Dunt @iandunt.bsky.social nails Robert Jenrick’s plans for “activist” judges during Sky News’ Press Preview.

Coverage of Jenrick today basically amounts to sane-washing. He didn't criticise judges. He claimed there was a conspiracy by certain judges, who he had discovered and could number, to undermine British law and create open borders.

Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

Amazing job by the presenter here.
Wonder how Robert Jenrick's rowback to "We want people living in mixed communities" means he wants some kind of houseswap with urban + rural Britain?
Are mostly white communities "living essentially ghettoised lives"?

I don't think Robert Jenrick realises that the people clapping along to him when he talks about Handsworth would clap along if he said the same about Stamford Hill. I'd hope that would give him pause for thought.

Is it OK for Tory MPs to disagree with leaving the ECHR?

Badenoch: No

Is it OK for Tory MPs to whang on about the decline of the “White British” population?

So why do dogs canonically chase cats? Luddism. An obsolecent food production technology tries to prevent the adoption of a more sophisticated one.

Dogs vs cats isn't a primal species rivalry: it's a 10,000-year old job demarcation dispute.

If this isn't worthy of a Nobel I don't know what is. 2/2

In an interview on BBC TV Tory Leader Kemi Badenoch said her party would create a "Removals Force" - i.e. a copy of ICE in the USA to police immigration

ICE uses masked goons to round up people off city streets who look like illegal immigrants (i.e. brown people)

Do we really want that in the UK?

When Yvette Cooper was Home Sec she hinted the govt had further material justifying a ban that they couldn’t reveal because of the legal process. If so, better to get that out in daylight ASAP. Because as things stand they have clearly not made the case for proscription to the public’s satisfaction.

Also pls note that the signs including the word Plasticine instead of Palestine to avoid breaking the law

This is what’s left of freedom of speech under the Labour party.

Over 100,000 fascists were allowed to take over London but the Met police arrests over 1000 anti-genocide protesters instead.

Over 400 arrests of protesters in London thanks to the government’s refusal to admit that their decision to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group has been a disaster

The Labour gov has so far arrested well over 1,000 people for holding up signs

I understand a court of appeal ruling is due this month on the question of whether a judicial review of the ban can go ahead in November. The government is opposing it, but I think they might be wiser to get this cleared up as soon as possible. The current situation looks awful & is not sustainable.
