28 May 1933 | A French Jewish girl, Simone Kastenbaum, was born in Paris.
She arrived at #Auschwitz on 31 August 1942 in a transport from Drancy. After the selection she was murdered in a gas chamber.
This is Ward Al-Sheikh Khalil. Thousands around the world were horrified by a video of Ward’s silhouette as she desperately tried to escape engulfing flames after an Israeli airstrike.

05.05.2025 23:16 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hmm... Isn't it just the updated term for politically correct? It's the equivalent of, "You think you're smarter and better than everyone else." Which has always been a way to silence people who advocate for change. But I think those who use it like this would probably agree that it replaces "PC."
25.04.2025 01:25 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I might point out that it's a term appropriated from Black Americans who used it to mean awareness of prejudice and discrimination against them. But that might be seen as woke. 😆

26.03.2025 23:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I think Kierkegaard wrote something like this: we love ourselves aright when we love ourselves the way we love our neighbour when we love our neighbour as ourselves. As dizzying as it is to put it this way, I think it's surprisingly helpful in remembering how to love neighbour as well as self.
