My picture of Messier 17 (the Omega Nebula) taken on the mornings of April 7/8. 400x10s exposures with SeeStar S50 and duoband filter. M 17 is a star forming region in Sagittarius and is around 6,000 light-years away. Not an easy one to see from Northumberland!

Jupiter and Mars shown at the same image scale. Jupiter is around 45 arcseconds in diameter while Mars is just under 15 arcseconds. Both taken with the Meade LX10 8" (with Televue 2.5x) and ZWO ASI533MC Pro camera on 18-Jan-2025. #Northumberland #Astronomy

Happy New Square! 2025 = 45x45 (45 squared). This is a once in a lifetime, perfect square year for most people. The last perfect square year was 1936 (44x44) and the next will be 2116 (46x46).

M33 (Triangulum Galaxy) taken with the RedCat 51. 6 hours of exposure time with ZWO ASI533MC Pro (3 with triband filter, 3 without). This galaxy is around 2.7 million light-years away and bursting vibrant HII star forming regions!

For the past couple of nights I've been chasing the Crescent Nebula with the SeeStar S50. This is an emission nebula in Cygnus, formed by the stellar wind from a Wolf-Rayet star interacting with its expelled outer layers. It spans about 25 light-years and is about 5,000 light-years away.

It's taken 4 years to get 15 hours of exposure time on the Andromeda Galaxy. This is a combination of exposures with the RedCat 51 / ZWO ASI533MC Pro and Altair Astro triband filter. Processed in PixInsight. Taken from my home in Northumberland #astronomy #astrophotography
