While the Elon/Trump crash out is objectively funny/ironic... I feel like his tweets (specifically the ones saying that Trump & Republicans would have lost the election w/o his $$) are a perfect example as to why we need to overturn Citizens United... Just saying...

Going to model the behavior I want to see in my elected official when we are wrong about something and admit that I was wrong (his vote on the SAVE Act cough cough). A friend pointed out he is doing something (see linked press release).

Text reads '3 actions you can do to help end health inequity'. The first point of three, against the image of a megaphone is the text 'Speak up against all forms of discrimination'. The second point, against the image of a person shopping in the text 'Support community organizations that prioritize people & the planet'. Third point, against the image of a poster to protect the plant is the text 'Engage in climate action'.

Ending social injustice requires determined action from everyone. Here are 3 things you can do:

πŸ“’ Speak up against discrimination
🀝 Support community organizations that provide essential services like food, supportive housing & job training
🌍 Engage in climate action

Remind me, did you also vote in favor of the SAVE Act which would make it harder for this exact demographic to vote?

Does that include the proofs of citizenship they'll need to vote? I mean.. you did say anything

How will these affidavits be used in places with known voter suppression? How long will it take to obtain and execute this affidavit? @golden.house.gov a lot of unanswered questions here.

What if they've already registered through their college in which they don't have to prove citizenship (you just have to prove residency and you are who you say you are in ME), will the polling place have a list of students who haven't proved citizenship?

28.04.2025 17:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

🧡I just got off the phone with a staffer for @golden.house.gov who informed me that people could "simply sign an affidavit that they are a citizen." Here's the thing about that, what if there are no affidavits available for someone to sign? Are they blocked from voting?

28.04.2025 17:49 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

🧡Not once in this process is a student required to show they are a citizen. I know this process well because I used it myself to help students register to vote. Therefore when someone tells you, based in facts, they are not fear mongering, they are informing you that you are disenfranchising voters.

28.04.2025 16:56 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

🧡On a college campus, for example, colleges in ME can submit a list of students who are living in the dorms to that town's registrar, this proves their residency. Students can also provide a piece of mail to demonstrate this. They then can show a student ID as proof of who they are.

28.04.2025 16:56 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

🧡Again, with this my dude? It's not trying to divide people with fear when someone is telling you that your support of the SAVE Act will effectively disenfranchise voters. ME requires proof of residency to vote and not proof of citizenship. These are 2 different things.

28.04.2025 16:56 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I love receiving emails from @golden.house.gov gaslighting me into thinking ME already requires citizenship to vote. Buddy, idk who wrote that email for you but ME currently requires you prove RESIDENCY not CITIZENSHIP which are 2 different things. Maybe fact check those emails before hitting send.

But your vote for the SAVE Act directly contradicts a woman's right for her voice to be heard throughout the entire political process. Hypocrite.

Ironic that you attended this at a college considering you voted in support of the SAVE Act which will make it harder for college students to vote. Tell me, what did you say to them if you tried to gaslight them to try and convince them you didn't try to make it harder for college students to vote?

For those unaware, lawyers have an ethical duty of candor towards the tribunal. To translate, lawyers have a duty to be honest to the courts and can face disciplinary action if they are found to be lying.

16.04.2025 18:40 β€” πŸ‘ 17    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Make sure to vote "no" if you were NOT happy with his decision to support voter suppression.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, ironic (and sad) considering he has a wife who took his last name and daughters. Really showing his white, male privilege there.

Not my own writing but I agree with the author. Shame on you for doing the WRONG thing @golden.house.gov

In a moment that doesn't call on us to choose between Democrat and Republican, but between right or wrong, you choose to do the wrong thing. We, the voters, have our eyes on you.

Absolute lies. ME's voting culture comes from how easy it is to register to vote and vote. ME currently does not require proof of citizenship to vote and allows for same day voter registration. I can confidently say this is wrong due to my work as a voting rights advocate in ME.

Maine's voting culture is the way it is because it is EASY for people to register to vote (which FYI currently does not require proof of citizenship). The claims are not misleading, stop trying to gaslight us in saying that you did the right thing. You did the WRONG thing.
