Brilliant book, probably the one I found most challenging to read in the Culture series. Not just the body horror (which is there) but the depiction of war as pointless and random and indiscriminate.

This is fairly common practice in (especially tabloid) newspapers. If there's no name attributed to the article, it means the person was told to write it by an editor and doesn't want to be associated with it.

I wrote a literature review about SSRIs a few years ago that pointed out that they don't work the way we think they do, and naïvely suggested we should stop giving them out.

Thing is, they work for a lot of people, even if we don't know why. So if they don't cause harm - who cares how they work?
