I got a tip a few months ago that ICE was planning to use tribal airports for ICE flights. I spent a few hours scouring flight data, found no evidence of this, and let it go.

But perhaps they all just said no? If anyone has more info, hmu on signal at gbrockell.44!

Absolutely fascinating listen, particularly to hear racist Afrikaaners navigating their way through the refugee definition to try to get to the US, and their relationship with that label. Good to hear e.g. removal companies in SA refusing to deal with them.

To explain briefly: at the moment people successful in their asylum claims get permission to stay in the UK for 5 years, then have to apply for permanent residency. At that point a review of their status is done, but it’s rare not to succeed at that point unless theyβ€˜ve committed an offence 1/

This is important. How WOULD an administration less keen on self-imposed guidance use these broad draconian powers?

To everyone who says, "But this won't matter": *MAKE IT MATTER.*

You have that power! This is not inside baseball and your friends and neighbors will likely be appalled. And if they're *not* appalled, don't be cynical yourself. Take the lead, give the cue.

Shabana Mahmood to demand migrants earn right to settled status New tests will include learning English to a high standard, paying National Insurance and not claiming benefits.

The current visa system already leaves many migrants facing poverty, working multiple jobs, as they pay the often tens of thousands of pounds in costs.

Proposed changes from this government continues the dehumanising treatment of us as we are treated as second class.

My cousin a NY Firefighter died and all they recovered was his helmet… nothing more. He was 1 of many.

Let us honor our hero’s and pray for all the families of the lost loved ones never recovered.

You would think a hospital would care about high standards and infection control. They have severe staff shortages and put a great deal of pressure on doctors and staff to run through patients like a meat grinder. But no one cares what happens when they encourage the spread of disease. Always $$$s.

They were likely infected by an unmasked sick doctor. That doctor has proceeded to infect the entire staff on the ward, including vulnerable pregnant women, and staff from other wards filling in for those too sick to work and their families. Staff report it has spread to their children and schools.

A family member just recovered from their 4th or 5th COVID infection. It has always been contracted at the hospital where they work. The hospital has a blasΓ© mask if you feel like it policy. Emoyees are encouraged to come to work sick even if +. Employees are not allowed to have HEPA devices either.

Furious Trump’s Firing of Fed’s Lisa Cook May Be about to Backfire The fired Fed governor has filed suit against Trumpβ€”and the discovery process may allow her celebrated lawyer to find out if the White House ordered a Trump loyalist to move against her.

Our slide into authoritarian rule would not be possible without Trump's willing accomplices. William Pulte's corruption of the bureaucracy to single out the mortgages of Trump foes like Lisa Cook for "investigation" is the perfect example of this.

New piece from me:

frankly i think the White House should be converted into some kind of diplomat's ceremony building and the President should actually work out of a corner office in some grim government green rectangle where he has to make a new pot of coffee in the break room if he takes the last cup

Nor does Johnson's expressive conduct fall within that small class of "fighting words" that are "likely to provoke the average person to retaliation, and thereby cause a breach of the peace." Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire, 315 U. S. 568, 315 U. S. 574 (1942). No reasonable onlooker would have regarded Johnson's generalized expression of dissatisfaction with the policies of the Federal Government as a direct personal insult or an invitation to exchange fisticuffs. See id. at 315 U. S. 572-573; Cantwell v. Connecticut, 310 U. S. 296, 310 U. S. 309 (1940); FCC v. Pacifica Foundation, supra, at 438 U. S. 745 (opinion of STEVENS, J.).

Thus, we have not permitted the government to assume that every expression of a provocative idea will incite a riot, but have instead required careful consideration of the actual circumstances surrounding such expression, asking whether the expression "is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action." Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U. S. 444, 395 U. S. 447 (1969) (reviewing circumstances surrounding rally and speeches by Ku Klux Klan). To accept Texas' arguments that it need only demonstrate "the potential for a breach of the peace," Brief for Petitioner 37, and that every flag burning necessarily possesses that potential, would be to eviscerate our holding in Brandenburg. This we decline to do.

also and much more importantly, Texas v. Johnson literally already considered the exact two reasons which the Trump administration is saying that they can prosecute people for burning flags for and declined to allow the government to prosecute the burning of flags for those reasons
