How many times have I seen A Muppet Christmas Carol and I only just clocked the Punch and Judy professor in the opening number.

Heard a question about terminology at an undergrad research presentation but decided not to be That Guy and weigh in out of turn.

Trying to remember some stuff I was reading ages ago on the other place regarding the use of “disabled” and that it’s actually preferable to terms like “differently abled”. Can anyone direct me to something substantive on this?

Started an audiobook last night only to realize I’m really rather over shitting on academics as a reason for why amateur historians should have the same if not more credibility than trained historians. I’m over shitting on expertise in general, but my discipline in particular.

Potentially unpopular opinion: not everything needs to be made into a musical.

Struggling to get through grading I've been putting off for too long and realized part way in that I actually kinda hate this assignment. I adapted it from a class I was a TA for, and realizing now that it's not working for me.

I still think about the time one of the other guys in the dept found out he wasn’t invited, got all salty and said but you let her (me) play. As someone who struggles with feeling like a burden, that comment still messes with me.

My dnd group started with about ten grad students at the uni where I did my MA. Ten years on, five of us are still playing together, plus another we picked up along the way.

I’m terrible at side hustles, but also life is expensive, so I’m currently brainstorming ways to make some extra money while also being completely exhausted because I’m teaching five classes and also lupus.

I dream of a day when I will not always be writing lectures the day of class. I also dream of a day when I have the energy to revise older lectures.
