Ultimately, @libdemshk.bsky.social believe the time is right for reform of Council Tax and of the funding model for Local Government. But until then, we will do everything we can to protect those residents on the lowest incomes from Council Tax increases.

We know that people are struggling with their bills - inflation, interest rates, the cost of energy... everything is going up. That's why the Liberal Democrats took a political decision, against officer recommendations, to preserve our Council Tax support scheme.

We have below-average CT levels in Somerset (not helped by the disastrous former Tory County Council freezing CT for 6 years…

Today is a huge day for #Somerset Council, as all 110 councillors gather in #Taunton to vote on the budget for FY2025/26.

The new Council was created in 2023, and despite incredibly difficult circumstances we have balanced the budget every single year since then - and we’ll do it today too.
