@djrothkopf.bsky.social is one of the writers I always turn to for straight-talking analysis: โ€œ[W]e need to focus not on changing parties but on changing the Democratic Party. And we need to recognize that we canโ€™t have a different Democratic Party until we have different Democrats leading it.โ€

A chart showing a 20 year price change between sectors.

A chart showing a 20 year price change between sectors.

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

Spending Bill Would Pave Way for Senators to Sue Over Phone Searches

Republicans have voiced outrage that Jack Smith, the former special counsel, looked at G.O.P. lawmakersโ€™ phone records surrounding the Jan. 6 attack. Legislation as part of a deal to reopen the government would allow them to sue for $500,000 each.

Chuck Schumer and the Dem Senators that caved to maga, are the last gasp of the Stepford Democrats. Our party will transform itself in 2026. The fighters will lead the Democrats from here on out.

You build a tolerance for it, it doesn't affect you badly once you are more used to it. I regularly eat very hot chilis, it doesn't cause me to sweat or tear up, occasionally it is a bit too hot, but I take a bite of rice or something bland to counteract it.

Why do people love spicy food โ€“ even when it hurts to eat it? Tearing up, sweating and other bodily functions are all signs that the body is trying to expel spicy foods as quickly as possible. But there is a simple reason why some people enjoy those sensations

Police in Chicago arresting people on behalf of ICE. They are there to Protect & Serve their corporate overlords. The same ones who funded Trump and are now benefiting from his corruption and gutting our democracy.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdaniโ€™s supposedly radical policies as โ€˜normalโ€™ Critics of New York Cityโ€™s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe itโ€™s a given

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.

Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

When people claim that the fulfilment of basic needs for all would destroy the incentive to work, they are admitting the entire capitalists system is based on coercion; that it is a form of slavery 'work for us or starve'. Labour can never be voluntary in such a system.

Stock of Spotify over last month showing sharp decline, from near $700 in value to $615.

Spotify is crashing HARD because of the boycott. Their stock dropped 11% in value over the last month. Letโ€™s keep this going!

Tell everyone you know to boycott Spotify. There are plenty of alternatives that donโ€™t run ICE advertisements and screw over artists.

We made it easy at boycottspotify.com.

There had better be trials. And not just for the low-level thugs carrying out these orders, but for everyone up the chain of command.

If we get past this, the solution isnโ€™t to pretend it never happened and invite Stephen Miller to Harvardโ€™s Institute of Politics.

Itโ€™s trials w real punishments.
