I've got a family member who always parks in those bays because he has mobility issues that means he needs the extra space to open the door all the way to get in and out of the car, but the way people look at him (as he very obviously limps into the shop) you'd think he'd done something much worse

When I had to use assistance a few months ago there was a way to book the ticket first & then book the assistance separately online but it's cumbersome, not obvious, and despite the email confirming the assistance it wasn't actually there when I got to the station, so I'm not sure how useful it is!
