If you are looking at rentals in North Minneapolis and come across a properties where the landlords name is Bashir Mogul, he is a slumlord!
Also general tip: if you can catch a current tenant in the parking lot after the tour (when apartment staff are not around), ask them if they like the place!

Housinglink is a good resource for searching for stuff! Depending on your income you might qualify for section 42 housing which would be slightly less than market rate rent!

Also Verde was not a very responsive landlord and generally real estate companies that do property management on the side tend to be very hands off and just really don’t put a lot of effort in on the rental side of things.

I would avoid Dominion properties, they are vague about screening criteria, a client and I had bad experiences with them and one of my supervisors has had more than one bad experience with them. I have seen some okay Aeon properties, but I would not recommend Huntington Place to my worst enemy.

Usually you can figure out if you’d be approved or not before applying.. the contact I have for them is Ryann, 612-900-7855. So far my client likes them! Also, I don’t know how they are as landlords but Property solutions and services tends to be understanding with background checks.

If your credit score is decent, the debt probably won’t hurt you too much. The eviction is old enough that some landlords will work with you, unless there’s a really large amount of money still owed to that landlord. First Housing is really clear about their screening criteria…

What’s their budget, how many bedrooms needed and what areas are they open to? Also any concerns about passing housing background checks?
