Well the Pharisees weren’t Christian nationalists, white slave owners, racists, thieves, human traffickers, or bad people, so sounds like you have some baggage to work out that doesn’t involve Jewish people or our ancestors.

Because the Pharisees actually were decent people. Both Jesus and Josephus praised them for their righteousness.

Queer Christian communities need to have a “come to Jesus” moment about the rampant antisemitism that makes them look at the violently homophobic, powerful men leading their churches and see a Jewish sect of rabbis that they know nothing about.

That is how Pharisees are depicted in the New Testament. It is not a reflection of actual historical reality, where they were praised for their righteousness, charity, and selfless devotion to the Torah and the Jewish people.

The tax collectors were the most vile, evil proto-fascists it’s possible to imagine. They were violent thugs, collaborators, and human traffickers. It’s hard to imagine any oppressed person today who would want to be associated as such.
