Worse than dead? Fascinating. π€
28.10.2025 13:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I mean, nut allergic
Not but allergic.
(Although I think I could be but allergic, if itβs the sort that makes you mad when someone says βsorry, butβ¦β π€£)
Most important; donβt get anything with nuts. Caught a flight last week where a passenger was severely but allergic and we had three warnings not to open anything with nuts in during the flight. Very happy to (donβt want to make anyone ill!) but I had to check my M&S salad twiceβ¦

He doesnβt seem to mind being wrong; just sad he has to be really ill to see he was wrong about the NHS
Locum, salaried, portfolio GPs, now is the time to really engage⦠get signed up, get heard

βOh I had a bit of discomfort round my chest earlierβ = massive MI.
βOh I superglued it back onβ = severed finger
βMy leg was a bit soreβ = fracture
All genuine cases. Love the sheer robustness of farmers. They are amazing people.
First rule of rural medicine; a farmer presenting to GP or A&E is an emergency admission until proven otherwise

Expecting the government to share this view & support us in delivering care doesnβt really feel like it should be controversial, does it?
Thatβs one angry sun.
But yes, I love an equinox; something special about the passage of time and the shift of seasons
We donβt have enough GPs in the system; and yet there are thousands of underemployed & unemployed GPs (like me) who need jobs.
You really couldnβt make it up.

Ah, I get what you mean. But homelessness here is about systemic underfunding of affordable social housing for *generations* not a sudden choice. If youβre buying into that rhetoric, this is just the current iteration of βunfairβ, not the root cause.

14.08.2025 09:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tbh immigration where I live is not the issue; itβs not βthose peopleβ who are causing homelessness or lack of jobs in rural devon and Cornwall. But the perception it isβ¦ well thatβs frankly terrifying.
14.08.2025 09:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Honestly, no. The point is that the root of the issues isnβt immigration at all
As for the ECHR thatβs a protective factor, not something we should be leaving
Ice cream in Devon. Lovely
13.08.2025 15:58 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What do you think we should do? What are our lessons to be learnt?
For me, itβs about creating community, creating networks, empowering people with knowledge and skillsβ¦
Fund education, including adult education - again itβs not an βadd-onβ itβs a fundamental component of civilised society. We should never βhave had enough of expertsβ
13.08.2025 09:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Whilst tackling all those issues
5. Fund the BBC properly; and make it properly editorially independent: bring back local/regional services
6. Create community; SureStart; drop-in community hubs; fund libraries
These are not optional, nice-to-have - these should be core business. Belonging matters.
My thinking;
1. Face the problem, donβt hide/ignore it
2. Celebrate what we do have in a fabulous, diverse, multicultural UK
3. Listen to whatβs wrong; lack of affordable secure housing, costs of care, equitable access to healthcareβ¦
Watch the rise of Trump, watch the potential rise of Reform: itβs a warning that we follow trends. How do we stop that trend in the UK?
13.08.2025 08:49 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thing about childcare costs, is that for most families they are transient - so you donβt necessarily realise youβve got it better than someone did previously, if that makes sense
(For years our childcare costs were more than I earned; by a lot, so Iβm very much in favour of help with childcare £££)
Not aimed at me; but honestly talking to partners who suddenly realise how expensive social care is and how itβll impact on them is sometimes scary. And some will vote Reform, coz it provides easy answers to complex, hard questions.
13.08.2025 08:43 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Hmmm. They donβt care until they need healthcare or social care - at which point they suddenly realise how important it is - and can either react with enormous gratitude - or be massively angry at the state of a system in crisis.
Iβve literally had people shouting at me about how angry they areβ¦

So, I think itβs not unreasonable given the context
