I mean, contrast FF4 and FF6. Save for a couple of interesting effects, FF4 could have been a NES game. FF6, on the other hand, shows what happens when the devs truly understand the power of the system. Then they followed it up with Chrono Trigger.

Had one near U.S. Release. Had already played SMW on a SFC so I knew what to expect. And indeed, most early SNES games were just more colourful slightly souped up FC/NES games. Then, as devs learned more of what they could do with the system, things got more interesting.

I will forever associate the C64 with my favourite RPGs, action rpgs, and adventure games.
