it's pretty cool that these days SMC's position is treated as common sense by almost all of DSA and the left

while I’m being cranky, access journalism needs to go. When the president does his β€œI’m alpha because I insulted you” thing somebody needs to fall on his sword and say β€œwhat the fuck is wrong with you, old man?” on a hot mic. the hero of the wizard of Oz is Toto.

In an interview with Church Times, the Archbishop of York Cottrell talked about his visit to occupied Palestinian territory and for the first time ever publicly calls Israel's system of control over Palestinians an apartheid regime.

Socialist Majority is proud to announce a slate for @socialists.nyc leadership!

DSA is poised for power, and we have to strike while the iron is hot. We need to build off Zohran's win to fight for his affordability agenda in all corners of NYC.

My name is Diana Moreno. I’m a Queens mom, an immigrant organizer, and a proud democratic socialist with @socialists.nyc.

I’m running to replace @ZohranKMamdani.bsky.social in the Assembly in the upcoming special election to deliver on his affordability agenda and fight the rising tide of fascism.

Epstein Confidant Larry Summers Guiding Democrats’ β€˜Project 2029’ - The American Prospect Summers was overseeing the economic policy plank of the Center for American Progress’s effort. Emails released this week show him in regular contact with Jeffrey Epstein.

NEW: Before the recent Epstein disclosures, Larry Summers was poised to lead the economic policy plank for the Democrats' "Project 2029" effort at the Center for American Progress. He signed off on a housing policy paper CAP was prepping for next week.

made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow

Zeteo founder Mehdi Hasan asked El-Sayed how he would respond if and when he faces questions on the campaign trail about whether he supports Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. El-Sayed initially responded by calling the question hypocritical and again dodged when pressed.

He said that most U.S. presidents have expressed support for a two-state solution, and β€œIsrael exists. Palestine doesn’t. And so I always wonder why nobody asks me why Palestine doesn’t have a right to exist.”

El-Sayed accused the U.S. of supporting β€œthe very people in Israel who want to foreclose on the possibility of Palestine existing.”

β€œAnd so to me, frankly, it is about our principles and how we apply them evenly. If you believe in a two-state solution, then what are you doing to make it possible?” he continued.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

One Weird Trick to Get Rid of Chuck Schumer - The American Prospect Multiple Democratic groups, House members, and candidates say it’s time for the Senate minority leader to go. It turns out any single Senate Democrat can force a vote on Schumer’s job.

Many are calling for Chuck Schumer's resignation. What hasn't been reported until now is that any Senate Democrat can offer a motion to challenge his leadership position, and it would have to get a vote within 7 days. From @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social:

it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

The crazy thing about Senate Dems caving for a vote in the Senate, but not the House, is that it will give Senate Republicans up for re-election (Susan Collins) the chance to vote for ACA subsidy reinstatement with total security that it will never become law.

you cannot create a viable third party without changing the constitution.

to change the constitution, you need control of one of the major political parties, at minimum.

anyone refusing to accept this is a fucking child i'm tired of entertaining.

As far as I'm concerned, the case against working to change the Democratic Party from within through electoral politics collapsed with Mamdani's win last Tuesday. Doesn't mean the left will inevitably win or that it won't be a grueling struggle. But ... I mean, come on.
