In the spirit of #BannedBooksWeek, we're highlighting Groundwood's challenged titles. As books are continuously being censored in libraries and schools, it's vital that we reflect on the dangers of censorship and remember the importance of telling diverse stories. πŸ“š#booksky #kidlit #bannedbooks

Went to see 'One Battle After Another' in 70mm #IMAX, and the theatrical experience was amazing. And as it's a Paul Thomas Anderson film, it has a lot to recommend, but I don't think I loved it at first viewing. I'm going to see it again, so will reevaluate then.

Yes, I'm glad to see it found an audience, and Apple has committed to more. TBH, considering the episode length and scope of the VFX, it's likely a fairly low-budget production, so easier to green light another season.

Hope to find time to watch the #murderbot season finale tonight, too. It's my favourite new sci-fi show of the year so far. I have not read the books but probably should, considering how great everyone says they are.

What a cast, what a soundtrack! There are so many amazing one-shots, and I didn't remember Alfred Molina's small but amazing part - the firecrackers. And seeing it on 70mm film, on a print that was showing its age, just added to the experience. #Tiff50 #Filmsky #Moviesky

I just got out of seeing Boogie Nights in 70mm at TIFF Lightbox for the first time since it was released almost 28 years ago (I had no idea it was that long ago!) and I was reminded what an fucking fantastic film it is. Why I waited so long to see it again confounds me. #Tiff50 #Filmsky

The theatre was criminally under populated both times but I can see why this movie isn't likely what many were expecting after a diet of years of The Walking Dead and other "modern" takes on the Zombie genre.

Tonight was my second time seeing #28yearslater. Brilliant and my favourite film of 2025 after Sinners. Glad I managed to catch it twice on a big screen with great audio, as it sounds fantastic in Atmos. #filmsky

And, yes, I know it's widely praised as a masterpiece, and there are plenty of films that I love that are as long, but everything Melville was trying to say about the reality of the French Resistance was already conveyed half way through the film. (2/2)

I went to see Jean-Pierre Melville's 1969 film Army of Shadows, introduced by James and Roger Deakins at #TIFF50 tonight, and I'm sorry if I have to be the outlier here, but despite its many merits, it was simply too long and I hate to say it, boring (1/2). #Filmsky

I have the blu ray, but I don't remember if I've watched that cut. I know there are some fan edits in the works to add more cut content (e.g. Holden in the ICU), but TBH, I think there are enough versions already!

Though I will confess, I have a bit of a soft spot for the theatrical cut of Blade Runner with the voiceover. I know, heresy!

What director other than Ridley Scott has a wide range of movies where the Director's Cut or Extended versions (e.g. Blade Runner, Legend, Kingdom of Heaven) are substantially better than the often poorly received theatrical releases?

Sorry, 189 mins. The 194 min runtime was for the version with an added overture, intermission, and ementr'acte. This 20th Anniversary screening did not include them.

Got to see the definitive 194 min Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven in UltraAVX laser tonight for its 1 night-only engagement. It was a treat to see this version on the big screen in 4K as the last time I watched it was on DVD!

My third time seeing #Sinners in #IMAX. The first two times were in 70mm film at the BFI London, and tonight in 1.43:1 GT Laser at the Scotiabank Toronto. What an amazing cinematic achievement.

#Novacaine: While investigating the San Diego quadrant, Boimler experiences a transporter accident and can no longer feel pain. When Cardassians come aboard to try and steal the Cerritos, it's up to him to win the ship back, no pain plenty to gain. #LowerDecks

Also, I felt like Jack Quaid was channeling quite a bit of Boimler in this role.

I am embarrassed to ask, but this bill has put me in a bind plus my mom may have to pay several grand for new central heating on top of her medical bills. If you'd like to help, I have a Ko-Fi where I sell tarot card readings and take donations. I appreciate every penny.
