Hard agree. Among other things, the best cross-section of straight male friendship ever on TV.

Sinatra said, "What do you do?"
"I'm a plumber," Ellison said.
"No, no, he's not," another young man quickly yelled from across the table. "He wrote The Oscar."
"Oh, yeah," Sinatra said, "well I've seen it, and it's a piece of crap."
"That's strange," Ellison said, "because they haven't even released it yet."
"Well, I've seen it," Sinatra repeated, "and it's a piece of crap."

If I’d been a little more farsighted and flush back then, I would have gotten one with a glass hopper, to lessen static. But the old damp-spoon-stir trick mostly fixes that issue.

Baratza Encore is $150 and ships free from the maker. Have used it every day for a decade. Broke the dial once and had a $5 replacement part from Baratza in a few days. Love it.

What if the threat isn’t injunctions or their lack but rather the plain fact that this court supermajority is brazenly and spectacularly lawless?

I checked out in the 2000s. These days I am more worried about some pretty recent Atlantic-y gestures at the New Yorker.

I’m Gen X, and my mom read it but was loyal primarily to the Neil Diamond soundtrack. Heard that a lot.

I have had them a couple of times as a condition of closing, with the seller paying one year. I paid the deductible for water heaters twice and found that what gets installed is the cheapest, least efficient model of whatever you need. Never renewed. If it’s your money, I suggest saving up instead.

Just letting unread messages from various opt-in subscriptions and vendors I've failed to mark as spam (just in case the next email has the end-all-be-all coupon, I guess) grow like kudzu over my Gmail accounts as a pre-summer treat.

I love dashes so much that I can get around writer's block just by reminding myself that I'll be able to em it up all I want. (OK, not really, but it's a nice thought.) When dummies start suggesting that using the en dash correctly is an AI tell is when I'll get *really* mad.

Love the uniquely 21st-century indignity of cutting my own auto insurance "card" out of a tissue-thin piece of printer paper after almost 40 years of same-company patronage.

May seem counterintuitive, intimacy-wise, but we prefer sitting at the bar, especially at the above-named places (yours and Stacy's, but double esp Antler and 39). Some of them have some pretty reflective surfaces that can add volume, so we like being able to lean in.

The paradox of seeing more beauty in the world because I have a 5-year-old daughter but feeling more fear about the world because I have a 5-year-old daughter. Maybe parents of every moment have dealt (better?) with this.
