Slightly unnerved that I only yesterday casually mentioned I was waiting for a Steam home console to drop. Wondering what else to magic into existence with this superpower

Hands-on with the new Steam Machine, Valve’s square shot at SteamOS PC redemption RPS tries and tests the resurrected Steam Machine, a 4K-capable SteamOS PC built in-house by Valve.

Well, this sounds like exactly what I was hoping it would be. If the price is right I'll definitely be getting one.

I use them more than I was expecting to on the Deck, but I have to think if I'm going to play strategy games on big telly I'd just buy a wireless mouse

FINALLY a Steam Machine announcement looms. Been looking forward to this for years.

Incredible thread about Salisbury Cathedral, no wonder those Russians found their visit so fascinating

The penny only dropped for me reading the recent Taylor Lorenz book 'Extremely Online' which is pitched as a history of social media... midway through I realised it was almost entirely a history of people who monetise their big online followings, which I'd naively considered a smallish niche

Tweet by Matthew, @MrWeir: "I once wore a silver jacket to college, turned up late for class, said 'sorry I'm late', lecturer said, 'that's ok' then waited til I was halfway across the front of the full class before following up with 'trouble with the spaceship again was it?'.

In which your Supreme Leader travels the country and points at local newspapers. Today’s local newspaper: The Hexham Courant.

my patience has increased but I will say, it is ok to have trouble reading, it is not ok to scream at people for things you imagined they said because you can't read what they actually said

Screenshot of Tweets that say:

"Once at my granny's house my uncle excitedly said a James Bond film was on the tv. My Da said "sure they're all the same, a load of lads shooting at one lad then a mountain blows up." My uncle got really mad at how reductive that was then became furious when the mountain blew up.

My Da, of course, knew it was the one where the mountain blows up at the end. This was a foundational lesson which illustrated to me that walking the path of the hater means knowing more about something that people who profess to like it."

No no no, the pitch deck said the franchise was *moribund*, not that it needs *more Bonds*

I see the Inception Sound has finally made its pop music debut, ironically with a song for a film soundtrack

a tweet from 2020:

(james bond being beaten up by a goon)
GOON: bond you will maintain continuity
BOND: Never
GOON: the year is 2020 and you're roughly forty five, you were born around 1975
BOND: *spits out blood* i was a sea captain in world war two and i've been to space
GOON: you son of a bitch

All these years and I never realised that Sabre Wulf is basically a giant hedge maze.

Can't believe I've had the ending of the most recent Bond film spoiled for me by a bestselling novelist. There goes any remote desire to ever watch it I guess

four different Bonds show up, each claiming to be the real one. Young Bond, Cyborg Bond, Robot Suit Bond, and Bond Wearing Big Sunglasses.

11.11.2025 10:43 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'd be significantly more interested in watching that than any normal Bond film, to be fair

Untold Tales of Bond type thing, yeah, good call. He's clearly been on dozens more adventures than we've had films about, you could go back to a period setting and keep adding things indefinitely.

That wasn't really Bond, that was the embodiment of the Phoenix Force. The real Bond was in cryogenic suspension at the bottom of Jamaica Bay.

The rumours went wild at one point but seemed to be based off a random mockup screen, so I'm not holding my breath. Suspect they'd do some kind of hobbled version like "play any title in your Steam library except those owned by Microsoft Studios or available on GamePass"

Tempted to roll my own miniPC as I've done most of my gaming on Deck this year, but I'm holding off to see what Valve comes up with first (or if the next Xbox really does include full Steam library compatibility, as that would be a real best-of-both deal)

The only new console I'm interested in hearing about is whatever Valve's cooking up that will plug into Big Telly.

A rare treat to have a day hotdesking in the big smoke yesterday, but must admit it's a relief to be back to a mechanical keyboard, decent mouse and twin 1440p monitors today. Not to mention faster internet
