funny detail I noticed recently: when the TC asks for a smoke round, the loader literally grabs a round of 76mm HVAP. That projectile wouldโ€™ve hardly even slowed down after going through 104mm of late-war German armor at 800 yards.

The sad part is that the filmmakers had Nick Moran as one of their advisors.

Theyโ€ฆ ignored him once or twice. In one case, he was like โ€œok, the Tiger would actually be scary if they were in a 75 Sherman.โ€ Filmmaker: โ€œbut the 76 looks coolerโ€

Just got flashbacks to the owners at a company I worked for giving us a presentation about how much money we could save by using a healthcare ministry and negotiating prices

Like, good for you, negotiating is literally your job. Howโ€™s that supposed to work for an animator, JEFFREY

it sucks that it's the case, but a large part of what makes a person conservative is an inability to recognize problems that aren't affecting them or someone they know/like

so this is a good thing. more facing-eating, and enough of them might finally start to get it

Rocket Lab delays first Neutron launch to 2026 Rocket Lab has delayed the first launch of its reusable Neutron rocket to 2026, saying it wants to maximize the chances that the flight will be a success.

Itโ€™s definitely better than no competition though.

And hey, hereโ€™s a non-oligarch effort to cheer for, launching fairly soon spacenews.com/rocket-lab-d...

Yeah, another point in favor of the Sherman. Replacing a Pantherโ€™s transmission in wartime conditions sounds like one of the deepest circles of hell

06.10.2025 23:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

oops, Sherman periscope was 1x and 1.44x, telescope was 3x in 1944. Panther was selectable between 2.5 and 5x on its telescopic sight

And if the Sherman crew knew how to use their gyro gun stabilizer, they could actually hit stuff on the move. The Panther was better at range and if it saw you first, but that obviously wasnโ€™t going to be the norm in Western Europe

Turns out the things that might not show up on a stat card can make a difference. M4s had better visibility for the gunner (a nice wide x1 and x5 mag periscope, and a x6 down low next to the gun), where Panther gunners just had their narrow fov telescopic sight

yeeup. if they lose the excuse of "the democrats are holding us up," they have to actually govern, pass the legislation they campaigned on, and bear the electoral consequences. they're not gonna sign themselves up for that

It's worse this time. The first term didn't have Vance, Hegseth, Patel, RFK Jr, etc etc being just as abrasive as the POTUS, and I think that that makes a difference.

One womanโ€™s talk over the pulpit last Sunday at my local ward quoted past leaders (one of whom was in the Reagan admin and whose quotes on govt usually make me cringe) emphasizing that we are loyal to the constitution, not an individual, and that itโ€™s okay to vote for whatever party
