That’s great, I’ll try and be a bit more intentional. Most of the folks I follow are probably skewed to the US which certainly doesn’t help.

I see barely anyone from the UK on Bluesky, which is increasingly making it alienating to me

Learning a new language isn't a way to increase my leverage.
Learning how to speak to a new cohort or community totally is. Those were some fundamental truths I learnt quite recently that have helped me enormously at AWS.

Not having a desk at work really grinds my gears. I end up hot desking every day, it's stressful.

I wrote something in cursor, and the time I spent wasn't where I anticipated. It got the idea of the codebase and what I was trying to do. What it didn't grok was integration/unit tests failing shouldn't be replaced by wholesale code edits, they exist that way for a reason.

I was told we had 900 people at our talk, rad.

This infographic illustrates the inefficiency of meat production in terms of feed conversion. At the top, 16 kilograms of grain are shown with an arrow pointing towards 20 people, indicating that this amount of grain can feed 20 people directly. Below, the same 16 kilograms of grain are shown being fed to a cow, resulting in only 1 kilogram of beef, which can feed only 2 people. This highlights the inefficiency of using large amounts of plant-based feed to produce a relatively small amount of meat, a concept known as feed conversion ratio. Feed conversion ratios reflect how much plant feed is required to produce a certain amount of animal-based food; lower efficiency ratios in livestock mean more resources are used for less food output, impacting food availability and sustainability.

It's astonishing how many find this a difficult concept.
