My one concern is privacy concerns; if my car is recording where I am to regulate my speed, is it recording that data and who has access to that data. I think people should be allowed freedom of movement without a corporation or governmental body having access to their movements

I feel like the "these material objects have magic power" works for me as well as the idea that holy water will repel witches or evil spirits. But ritual is an important part of any spiritual practice, theistic or non. Grounding in materiality help us make meaning.

In liberal Christian spaces he is held up as a great example, but the thing is liberal Christians largely aren't looking for a figurehead because our theology is less focused on punitive structures and "saving souls" isn't really a goal.

I mean, he might, but as a Christian what I admire about him is he shows by example a way of being publicly faithful that doesn't harm those religiously traumatized folks and that is genuinely as important as bringing them back to the church

My retired dad came to visit me this week and to paint my house. Now my house is awesome and colorful and I have gotten to spend each evening just talking to him. Usually my mom and I (both yappers) dominant the conversation, so it's nice to have some 1-on-1 time with the old guy.

It doesn't mean he is suddenly qualified to be a major league manager. It doesn't mean his intuition is correct about everything. Like y'all mentioned, after playing the game at a competitive level for 20 years he has the occasional insight.

The double fault guy reminds me every once in a while my dad can accurately predict how an at bat will end when watching baseball. "He'll hit it long into left center." He's basically always right. It's not magic, my dad used to pitch and he often can predict where something's headed.
