More than a dozen Austin ISD schools are set to close before next school year The move is expected to save the district $25 million and balance out enrollment across campuses. The school board will vote on the plan Nov. 20.

My son is in high school now but his bilingual elementary school, Ridgetop, is on the list for closures. It's a gem. It's happening b/c state underfunds education & takes money from richer districts to other parts of the state, even though most kids in Austin are low SES. www.kut.org/education/20...
