The Court Jester is legit.

05.12.2025 16:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Will probably forever be a grump about this day until it doesn't exist. For me it soured when some of the people who created Bandcamp Friday & pushed to imagine the enterprise as a better, worker-focused place (unionized etc.) were pushed out. Using the branding just feels off to me personally.
05.12.2025 15:11 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0I think the biggest value of the arts for scientific/technical fields is that they create opportunities to ask, again and again in sometimes surprising ways, 'are we considering?'
02.12.2025 15:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Considering most of Miike's Osaka youth coming of age films are available on dvd, I suspect there's a copyright issue with distributing Blues Harp. Among the multiple great house band performances throughout at the central bar, I doubt that cover of Tom Waits' New Coat of Paint was ever cleared. π

Blues Harp is one of my favorite early Takashi Miike films. This low budget entry trades his familiar shock content for a simple sincere human story of a gay Yakuza and a half-American bartender turned singer finding a connection as social outsiders.
Mikey plus Superman??? Oh wow, it's so obvious and yet I never considered that it would happen. 100% the dopamine I needed!

I currently have 36 Nebula-exclusive videos, and you currently have a weekend coming up, and Nebula just implemented free 3-day trials, so... go nuts?

Having seen what this is going to look like and read some of the other contributions I find myself once again in a book with a lot of cool stories by cool people.
My story is more about technology in relation to and as magic, a cyberpunk body horror sort of journey through a melting AI city.
I really hate "elevated horror" criticism. There is no shortage of horror movies made by people more interested in selling something rather than saying something, but there has never been a period where horror movies weren't about something. Ideology is purest when no one is thinking about it.

30.10.2025 15:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You know, when it came out (phrasing) they really tried to downplay that (also phrasing). Like the poster and film cover were quite classy and romantic. Now when I look it up, half the promotional material looks like they're trying to sell Slip and Slides. The film itself is pretty tame if surreal.
30.10.2025 14:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Plus, I think Night of the Comet (1984) would bore you, The Witches of Eastwick (1987) might be rejected, and So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993) is probably not as good as I remember it being when I was a kid.
Clearly the only correct answer was Boxing Helena (1993) all along! π
For Moonstruck I think I'd honestly pair The Shape of Water (2017) for you. I could be evil and pair Audition (1999) or Habit (1995) but at the risk of an aquatic erotic theme, everyone needs more Guillermo Toro in their life!
30.10.2025 14:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think the easiest programming option would be Local Hero followed by An American Werewolf in London, followed by Moonstruck.
I do have half a mind to pair Local Hero with Warm Water Under a Red Bridge (2001) just for the WTF look I would get next family dinner. There is a logic to it, but also π.
Or you could double feature Cat People (1942) and Curse of the Cat People (1944). Together they clock in at just under 2.5 hours. The first is a very creepy but bloodless Noir style horror while the second is psychological fantasy with Gothic shades, closer to Harper Lee meets Katherine Paterson.
30.10.2025 03:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hmmm I have two ideas.
The Asphx (1972) is a personal favorite about photographers trying to capture the spirit of death. It feels like something Mary Shelly and HG Wells would collaborate on. A more serious and less gruesome predecessor to Death Becomes Her.
On the unlikely chance this is popular I'll cut off at 31 requests, also no promises that what I recommend will be readily available or that I'll be super prompt in replying, so maybe try and get them to me by noonish tomorrow if you're actually trying to see something before the weekend. Cheers!

Hereβs the original clip of Ronald Reagan from April 25, 1987, where he delivered a complete and total rebuke against tariffs. Trump's calling Reaganβs words here βFAKEβ and βfraudulent.β Theyβre 100% real. And the original clip is actually far worse for Trump, as much is left out of the ad:

Signs is actually my favorite. It's probably not his best, per se, but it is the most enjoyable.
