There is a near-100% chance they're wrong, and all it'll do is cause huge suffering to the disabled person they accuse.

Cuts to the health element of Universal Credit will mean 750,000 disabled people applying in the future will miss out on £3,000 a year by the end of the decade. 2/7

There will be no changes to Personal Independence Payment (PIP), for people receiving it now or newly receiving it in the future. The UK gov has started a review of PIP which they have committed to co-producing with disabled people. For people currently receiving the LCWRA or health element of Universal Credit (UC) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), there will be no changes. People who lose eligibility for the health element for less than 6 months and become eligible again after April 2026 will still receive the higher amount. Most people who become eligible for the LCWRA or health element of UC or ESA from April 2026 onwards will receive a reduced amount.

I wish the media would stop reporting on welfare reforms as if the government climbed down on everything. They really didn't and some future claimants of universal credit for sickness and disability are going to be sorely penalised as a result.

And the Universal Credit bill has passed. Some of the sickest people in the country will suffer needlessly more now. There is no justification, no excuse. Just ugly, cruel choices by ministers too cowardly to tax the wealthy rather than cut the poor. A shameful day for Starmer’s Labour.

A local cafe/shop is closing. We have spent many, many happy hours up to last year. It is very sad. They are selling their chairs and as we have visited many, many times with Pepper we are buying a chair as a momento for him. He will always have his own green chair to pose in now.
