I thought it would be a few more years before I would encounter this species in my neck of the proverbial woods. Orange Porecap (Favolaschia claudopus) - a non-native species originally from Madagascar - at Chaddesden Wood LNR, Derby

Agreed... also if OP went through the trouble of doing all that focus stacking, why would they leave the front of the mushroom out of focus? Another thing that seems to me like AI trying to replicate a true image.

They're not a common species, I'll give you that - it was only last year that I saw them for the first time.

Took a little video of this sporulating cup fungus. Extra breeze provided by yours truly.
I believe it to be a species of Geopora. I've seen the incredibly similar Cedar Cup (Geopora sumneriana) before, but the habitat - open grassland with no trees nearby - I think rules out that species as an ID.

I've seen them a few times but this is the only decent photo I have of them. The other times I've found them fully emerged they've been:
- All withered and dried up
- Crushed flat, having grown in a tight space between layers of bark
- Knocked over/smashed up
- Too high up/far away to properly see

It's #UKFungusday! I would have been on a foray earlier but the universe has conspired against me. Storm Amy has led to the (sensible) cancellation of the event, and I have also caught myself a stinking cold! Boo!
In lieu of any snaps from today, here are a few of my favourite pre-bsky fungi pics:

And as a bonus surprise, I even found a couple of Ceps! Not totally unexpected given I found some just over the road at Wollaton Park last year, but they always feel a bit special to me.

The irregularly-lobed, shelf-like fruiting bodies of Chicken of the Woods (Laetiporus sulphureus) growing from the trunk of a fallen tree. They are a bright orange in colour with a paler yellowish margin.
A wide-eyed (and devilishly handsome) fellow leans over the Chicken of the Woods, as if about to take a big ol' bite out of it.

A pair of Ceps (Boletus edulis) which have grown with parts of their cap and stem merged together, like conjoined twins. The caps are a chestnut brown colour and the stems are pale with a white reticulum (netted pattern).
Found conjoined twins today. π

A Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) butterfly clinging to a frail tuft of dry grass.

A Flame Shield (Pluteus aurantiorugosus) growing from a well-rotted elm stump. It is a bright orange mushroom with a pale yellow stem. To its right is a cup fungus of some sort with a small spider crawling up its side.
A cluster of Branched Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus cornucopiae) growing from a standing elm trunk. They have cream coloured caps with irregular wavy edges which overlap each other in tiers.
A small cluster of Fluted Bird's Nest fungi (Cyathus striatus) growing amongst leaves and well rotted timber. They each resemble a bird's nest with a brown fuzzy exterior and a striated inner surface. At the bottom of each nest sit four or five egg-like discs known as peridioles.
Yay more mushrooms
