I wouldn't go as far as agreeing with them ...

LEO Satellites are superior to NBN's Skymuster & other players are entering the LEO Satellite market, including a Canadian telco Telesat.

It's also a relatively small customer base - NBN's Skymuster service has less than 80,000 customers.

And a quarter of Australian companies were not complying with their basic modern slavery reporting requirements, because there is "no significant enforcement framework," according to a Federal Government review led by John McMillan in 2023.

(I missed that Amazon Kuiper has now got a carrier license.)

The ISPs selling Skymuster will be pleased to have another option for rural & regional customers.

Amazon's project kuiper has signed a deal with NBN to provide the LEO satellite service to replace the much maligned Skymuster from next year.

I've also been in spaces where people say stuff so meaningless but they get celebrated as visionary because they mastered corporate speak. It's really bleak.

Elon isn't a genius. He just knew how to build hype and say shit to willing ears

More seriously: they're tapping into something else - whose "genius" gets recognized.
Every woman has had the experience of saying something, it being ignored and then a man saying it and that same thing being celebrated.

Stupidly rich people apparently genuinely worried how they will survive retirement with just $3m in superannuation plus all the money in other investments that they use to minimise tax. I have no tears left to cry.

How about saying "we will not tolerate any intimidation towards asylum seekers, racist and xenophobic violence has no place in our society", instead? How about hearing the worries of those of us who are concerned by the ever rising xenophobia in the country?

Governments are becoming increasingly secretive. Here’s how they can be made to be more transparent As freedom of information disclosures decrease and less documents are available for public scrutiny, we need better ways to hold politicians to account.

"Labor spoke a big transparency game in opposition, they have done little in government. We need to demand that they do."

A very useful overview on what can be done to make our Government more transparent:

The Chair & Deputy Chair roles are yet to be appointed, however, ALP & Coalition MPs & Senators have now been appointed to the important Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence & Security:

This, of course, is arguably already unlawful. Australian Privacy Principle 11.2 requires personal info that is no longer needed to be destroyed or de-identified. Some well placed complaints to the regulator might be useful here. www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/priv...

The EM suggests harms intended to be addressed include risks arising from:
> exposure to harmful content, including content such as drug abuse, suicide, and self-harm,
> harmful features such as persistent notifications & alerts which have a negative impact on sleep, stress levels, and attention.

This point highlights the lack of clarity from the Government about what specific harms the minimum age laws are intended to mitigate ...

Our 2025 Voltaire Award winner, Dr Mo, will be featured on the ABC’s Australian Story tonight:
abc.net.au/news/program..., profiling his extraordinary work both providing and advocating for medical care for the children of Gaza.

This over-takedown of content needs to be taken into consideration as Australia's moves forward to legislate it's own "digital duty of care".
