It's highly correlated to autism and adhd, but not exclusive. Which fits. I imagine there's another piece there. But It seems likely that hyper associativity would utilize imagination to increase neural networks in the way that DID / Plurality functions.

I think hyper associativity may the part of the actual neurotype that causes a self to have the ability to split selves. More than the often mentioned high hypnotizability, hyper associativity takes trance states to an entirely different level. And not every human can do it.

Wow. So the Whitehouse just pulled a McLean. They posted tiktok videos without permission for critique which is now going to direct harassment at the folks in the video. And one includes a 16 year old child.

Ok. The heatwave killed my squash plant when I was out of town so I ate it young. TBH I wasn't enthused to have a butternut squash in our mix. But damned if the seeds didn't want to just keep going. Anyway, it was kind of weird tasting. Like a hot, firm but bitter cucumber when cooked. 2/10 stars

I should learn more about how to do that. I'm woefully rule abiding.

I'm not sure. There might be pathways formed that more readily bridge sections together somehow for fusion. I am not sure how to track any research on that. I know also... like with pruning, pathways can disappear and I don't know if that also factors in somehow.

Apparently there's already some research. And yes. Extreme immediate terror does cause new neural pathways to immediately develop. This is just the unrequested break down goggle gave me, but i did get some research studies.

Interesting thought

Regular networks of self doing day to day things (concept of ANP vs. Intrusive flashbacks) and, since the new system isn't supported or repeated and the other networks are (with single incident) the new networks fade back in with the previously existing structure more or less

And maybe that's what we see, to a smaller degree, with single incident trauma as it relates to theory of structural dissociation. Folks have an intense event that creates a burst of new neural networks trying to cope with the inconceivable. And then that pocket just intrudes and intrudes w/ the

was, maybe to create a bunch of smaller neural networks that function like fragmented selves which, then, were encouraged to stay that way rather than develop into a more complex self. They connect together to present as a more complex self, but it's not the same thing

But the plasticity can even show up differently from person to person. So, that's why some plurals may have distinct individual selves. Particularly if it's driven by random parent aggression and the kid gets to drive the new formation of self. But with me, the awful hit quickly and my tendency

08.08.2025 18:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And then traffickers understand this to different degrees and both search for kids who have this form of plasticity and also exploit it to manage memory and skill set in order to make the kid do what they want the kid to do without telling others and blowing their cover.

What i do wonder, which can never be ethically studied, is if intense moments of terror start to create a new chunk of neural pathways to deal. Almost spontaneously. And then that is one (but not the only) route to a new self in folks who are able to have the plasticity.

08.08.2025 18:23 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah, the theory is that it's the autohypnosis that creates and maintains different states. But I think it's actually that the imagination/ self hypnosis creates actual new neural pathways that are the states.

the cells. I don't think anything would really help what my mom had when it was caught. I did find it interesting that folks who seemed to have intense cancers & lived somewhat healthy w/ out chemo all used this cell meditation. The awful lifestyle diet didn't really seem to do much either way.

I haven't. But I'm sure it could work. I know when my mom had cancer and was trying non science remedies (because late stage pancreatic cancer doesn't do much with current day science remedies) she tried this horrific lifestyle diet and then this other daily meditation on

there's often a familiarity with imagining things in the mind and then it's there. I think it's more about lifelong practice than the theory of being constantly in trance. Besides different selves could be in trance and others not, such is multiplicity.

07.08.2025 17:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Ah... there's a theory that all folks with DID are regularly in a hypnotic state. Hypnosis and imagination kind of intermix, to be honest. I think that's why I framed it that way. I tend to not put folks into trance in general. I *do* explicitly use it for pain relief. But w/ DID

07.08.2025 17:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

But these are not as firmly in place as networks developed by actual outside interaction. Still, that means imagination isn't entirely ephemeral.

07.08.2025 06:06 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This makes me more curious about the fact that the lived experience community reports high levels of autism. Autistic people have more endogenous dmt which acts to build neurons and neuronal spikes faster. I think it's possible we can imagine and erase actual neural networks with imagination alone.

07.08.2025 06:06 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

A thing that gets overlooked w/ DID is that the act of imagining, through hypnosis or other means has been proven to build neural networks. Many think imagining is unimpactful on the brain. If you imagine juggling, you build networks. Imagining a self could be building neural networks, too.

I'm learning more and more that many people would rather tout that they know things than learn. And if you are in a position to illuminate that they don't know the things they say they know, even if you offer them an option to learn, they just get mad at you and try to attack you instead.

Absolutely stunning when someone tries to undermine you by asking for your publications to reduce you as an authority and then you do that, and then they switch to accusing you of throwing your dick around

Very sad to find out John Bouvier passed. He's been a friend since 2000 when I worked at SF Suicide Prevention & he worked at SFSI (San Francisco Sex Information). We shared a suite. Always kind, helpful & always volunteering which was why I put him up for sainthood many years ago.

Aside from also having a pretty stellar marriage, as a trauma survivor I actually have always wanted incidents of what good family relationships looked like around because I have found it a fascinating study. Not sure why others get upset, but they can read other things.
