Today is #NationalSweaterDay so let's enjoy 'The Fair-Isle Jumper' painted by #Orkney-born artist Stanley Cursiter in 1923.
Stanley Cursiter (1887-1976) was Keeper of the National Galleries of Scotland from 1930-1948 and was appointed the King's Painter and Limner in Scotland.
Photo from the Dale of Norway website showing a blond woman model outside in sunshine with blurred Mountains in the background . She's wearing a red and white wool sweater of a traditional Norwegian pattern.
Anyone else loving the Norwegian team sweater at the Winter Olympics? It's gorgeous! Made from 100% fine Norwegian wool with 100% soft merino lining. Made by Dale of Norway which made the first team sweater in 1956 π§ΆπποΈβοΈ

04.02.2026 19:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0About a foot of chunky hand knitted blanket on a long circular needle. Thick charcoal grey Italian merino yarn. Simple rows of cable on a 14 row repeat. Knitting and attached ball of wool are laying on a pale grey woollen rug with a basket and table leg just visible.
My grey #showmeyourknits is also also a current WIP - the beginnings of a simple cable blanket for my son in Katia Gentile Merino yarn on 8mm needles.
Pattern is 'Comfort' by Kim Hargreaves from an old Rowan magazine (no.34).

A friend just sent me this wonderful post from Audacious Ewe that popped up on her FB feed.
Take care of yourselves everyone - keep calm and keep knitting π§Άπ

I've just added the Moonflowers shawl and cowl to Favourites! I could do with editing my queue tbh, as it's too long and hasn't kept pace with my Favourites!

25.01.2026 09:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh, just saw the photo was of another garden. Still glorious and I'll still visit Cerney! π
24.01.2026 09:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think they do like damp. The ones that thrived at my parents' were in shaded borders. But goodness me, what a glorious display at Cerney! I've never seen so many together! I had to look up these gardens and now I have to visit! Thank you so much for sharing.
24.01.2026 09:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes, I love that it's useful! I bought a few plastic crates last year for yarn storage and now wish I'd made felted baskets!
