Best death: Gollum (Denethor second, but prepared to be persuaded otherwise)

Body count: Huge (how does one tally zombie armies)

Problematic moment: 6 ft 1 actor playing a dwarf (also best digger in all of Egypt, but that's a problematic moment for a different film)

There are women in that film and one could make a convincing argument that it is the operation that changed the course of middle earth.

Alien: Earth - 3 excellent episodes, 5 fair to middling. It's fine, but could have done with more alien and a bit less philosophy. Added points for Ade Edmondson who will forever be Vyvyan for me.

OMITB season 5 has started and I didn't realise? One the one hand poor form on my behalf, on the other, chance to binge watch what there is, so definite silver lining.

Having moved house, finally the new bookcases have arrived. Of course this now means I have to organise the books. Possibly a first world problem.

Re @hugorifkind.bsky.social's point about the actor Charlie Sheen could have been, I've always felt the same applies to Oliver Reed. Phenomenal presence in any film. Excuse to watch "Hannibal Brooks" now.
