Winter is rough bc it brings constant pain, constant stress (Christmas is a trigger for me based on childhood trauma), and SAD, so I may basically hibernate after New Years.

I knew it was coming for me. I worked in a panic from 22-37, hoping I could do enough before.

I just hoped I would have accomplished more with my efforts. I'm not dead yet, and not giving up, but disabled is something anyone can become at any point.

I can't say I never expected to become disabled- I grew up with ADHD and migraines, my pawpaw died of an aneurysm when I was 12 (it was his 3rd) my aunt had a brain Bleed & lupus.

I finally bit the bullet and bought- there's now options for Spoons and Overstimulation sliders, and Cat compression thigh highs, so it was my time.

I know, and I definitely see many artists struggling, but I also see some new break out popular artists really blowing up, and it can be a struggle dealing with the intrusive thoughts. I've cut WAY back on social media, but it's hard to avoid posts an algorithm is pushing.

To be honest, it never really paid off, I think I'm doing worse than I did in 2015. I just don't seem to learn or adjust fast enough. Thank you for noticing though, I feel like I've gone invisible in most aspects of my life.

The work hours to pay ratio as an artist just keeps getting worse, and as someone with a physical disability I have to wonder how long I can fight extra hard just for a few views.

Views on my art and stationery reviews are way down, and views on my tutorials are awful, and its really hard not to get discouraged by that when

I've been painting something totally not seasonal

Actually he was a puppet for a live puppet show that the now defunct department store, Maison Blanche, put on every Christmas decades before I was even born, but has had a minor resurgence, so he's even more esoteric than just Crimmus in the Oaks!

To me, magnolias are a winter thing, so I went with a Cajun (Creole in my case) night before Christmas with eggnog & Cajun ginger cookies (I took an informal poll on Threads, as my beloved Christmas cookies were Nana's Snackwells- yes she baked, and was an amazing baker, I'm just weird)

Magnolias are cool though- they're ancient flowering plants that were once pollinated by massive beetles, and the buds are edible, so I am down to add magnolias to my 'I'll eventually paint this' pile.

Last WIP sketch I plan on sharing for a bit. I personally think the Louisiana state flower should be the Louisiana Iris, but it is, in fact, a Magnolia (same as half the other Gulf South states).

I am awful at logos, but I thought I'd try designing something for this 'poster' in lights and wood.

My mom would take us when I was little, and I remember all the trees decorated by different schools, so I included a pinecone tree decorated with acorns (the acorns are a nod to the oaks), and my girl Kara dressed as the iconic Mr Bingle.

Another #Louisiana 'Festival'(?)- a fanart just for fun faux Celebration in the Oaks sketch. Though if they wanna make it official, I wouldn't say no- I am a Friend of the Park after all.
