My paperback copy of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich.
I read Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. A great book written wonderfully; with a focus on humanity. It's still relevant all these years later. I recommend it for reasons already expressed better by many others. #jerahreads

My battered hard cover copy of The Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins.
I read The Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins. This is an extremely sad book. Bevins interviewed witnesses and survivors of anti-communist slaughters in Indonesia and South America. He argues that those mass killings helped shape the world we live in today. I agree completely. #jerahreads

An image of the cover of the book Elantris by Brandon Sanderson.
I read Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. I think this is the last Sanderson I'll read. Once again there are very interesting worlds but bad dialogue and trope filled stories. Comparing Elantris to his more recent work did let me see how he has changed as a writer, and how he has not. #jerahreads

A cover of The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin found on a google image search.
I read The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin. It is two essays, a letter to his nephew, and the second is his memory of visiting Elijah Muhammad in 1961. This is the first James Baldwin I have read, and the writing is extremely beautiful and emotionally resonant. read it. #jerahreads #booksky

My edition of Clay's Ark by Octavia Butler. It is a modern paperback edition set on a wicker table.
I read Clay's Ark by Octavia Butler. It's about people trying to have empathy and compassion even as they face impossible decisions and are possessed by unavoidable compulsions. It's also a very exciting action story. I highly recommend it. #jerahreads #booksky

A blacktop path on top of a levee. The banks are very gentle to the river on the right.
Cold today, but just a few months ago, I was spending a warm autumn day on the levee.

The cover of Iron Council by China Mieville
I read Iron Council by China Mieville. It's about an attempted worker's revolution in the fantasy city of New Crobuzon, with focus on a council of train workers who continually build their own track. I liked it. #jerahreads #booksky

A book is set on a table. The book is an old paperback edition of Mind of My Mind by Octavia Butler. It's a good book.
I read Mind of my Mind by Octavia Butler. It's about telepathic slavery in a 1970s California community. What does it mean to form a community when your thoughts or memories could be controlled by someone more powerful than you? very interesting. #booksky #jerahreads

4 albums on a carpet. The albums are by Ronnie and the Ramblers, Joan Baez, The Pilgrims, and Pheobe Snow.
I picked these albums up at the library book sale back in October. A steal at $1.25 a piece. Phoebe Snow is the standout imo, but Ronnie is no slouch either.
