A photo I took in 2002 at the Hiroshima Peace Park. The Genbaku Dome is seen in the background, through the arch of the A-Bomb Cenotaph. A group of primary school kids crowd the foreground. There on a school history trip. The photo was originally shot on a Fuji GSW690iii camera. The drawing on the left - entitled "A charred corpse holding a child" - is by Hatsuto Tanimoto. It depicts an adult holding a child, 1000m from the hypocentre of the blast, at Kami-nagarekawa-cho.

Yesterday marked 80yrs since the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Saturday is the 80th anniversary of the Nagasaki bombing. The piece below is from 2002. Sorry, it's such a small scan. Original photo by me, paired with a drawing by hibakusha Hatsuto Tanimoto.

Peace & love are the way.

Nick Timothy MP has criticised the police for protecting a man delivering food to a hotel from intimidation + violence. He + Max Tempers both seem to assume they can intuit immigration status (that he must be an asylum seeker without the right to work) simply from a man's appearance (ethnicity)

Kelp forest project in West Sussex having 'remarkable results' The rewilding project off the West Sussex coast is celebrating its fourth anniversary.

Undersea rewilding initiative to restore a kelp forest in West Sussex is celebrating amazing results for marine biodiversity.

Rewilding is needed just as much at sea as on land.

Infographic titled “From Lab to Life.” The header reads: “Tylenol may quiet pain at its source by blocking Nav1.7 and Nav1.8—sodium channels critical for nerve signaling.” The left panel lists key findings: (1) Acetaminophen inhibits sodium currents in sensory neurons, (2) AM404—the active metabolite—blocks Nav1.7 and Nav1.8, (3) This may reduce neuronal excitability and pain. On the right, a simple neuron illustration shows AM404 blocking two sodium channels, labeled Nav1.7 and Nav1.8. The footer says: “That’s a big deal for the most common active ingredient in U.S. meds.” The citation at the bottom is: Proc Natl Acad Sci U.S.A. 2025 Jun 10;122(23):e2413811122. doi: 10.1073/pnas.2413811122. If you were born between 1970-1990 you may not have full MMR protection, even if you had parents who took you for all your jabs. The NHS will give you a free booster. With cases surging, this is a great way to protect yourself & your community. I’m getting mine tomorrow www.nhs.uk/vaccinations...

Striking. After Texas banned abortion, ER visits for early miscarriage rose 25% and blood transfusions surged 54%.

Doctors delayed care like D&Cs out of fear of prosecution. More women nearly bled to death. buff.ly/egXhmm7
